Fred Smoot signed (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/3449186) with the Vikings today. The guy is a great CB and it will do wonders to their horrible D. Hopefully the Pack will still pull it off in the North with the signings the Vikings are having.

Even though the vikings got Smoot, i doubt they will improve this year, i mean c-mon, their goal is to go 6-0 and then fall 6-6 and then start to win one week and lose the other. The Eagles will still own the vikes as usuall.

Your right on whatever i say, The vikings will never reach that contender level, they have all this money and don't know jack shit on how to spend it, look at red the previous owner, that was a greedy sum bitch, i don't about this new owner but he needs to take risks. i see the the vikings falling to 3rd in their division this season. It's not going to help you that much. Smoot isn't that great of a player, in my opinion he is one of the most overrated players in the league. He didn't do much for the Redskins this year; I think he got a couple of interceptions and that was about it. Now if you got Donovan Darius that could make a difference. He's good and he is a great leader.

Sorry we're not as good as the eagles getting to the NFC championship 4 times in a row and with 1 superbowl LOSS to show for it. Why do commentators even pick the eagles, they know you have no chance of winning anything anytime soon.
And about the Smoot being an overrated player, let this quote clear that up for you..."75% of the world is covered by water, the rest is coverd by Smoot"
Anyways, Vikes LIKELY aren't done signing nice defenders yet. Yes, i know Mccombs is a bum, Fowler has a winner mentality and is likely asking Mccombs to sign these players until his deal is done and he'll take over. Nobody here likes Mccombs. So whatever you say against him as a bad thing, I'll agree with you.
But Im not going to ask you who the vikings will fall 3rd behind...cause i know it was something stupid you just said just to spark a debate.

Actually 71% of the Earth is covered by water. I have watched just about every snap in a Redskin's game in the last three years, just trust me on this: Smoot is not a great cornerback, he's overrated.

71%? meh i didnt pay attention to earth science so i just shot out a number.
Well we can only wait and see. If DD comes to the vikes, itll sure make Smoot look GREAT!
But hes definately A LOT better then what we had..Ken Irvin and Brian Williams? I could beat both of those down field and I run about a 6.8 40.

The vikings have a chance of being hella solid this year.....
Tell me this much, did Daunte have near as much time as Peyton to throw???
HELL NO!
That poor dude had about a mili-second to get the ball and then throw it off. Yet he managed to have a great year.
Now with Moss gone and the chance to get MIKE WILLIAMS! or Edwards from Michigan I think were sitting good.
Hopefully we dont get Burress though :(
We got Burleson and Ol' Marcus if he can stay healthy.
Plus Kleinsasser will be back and we will have our explosive, deep, running game.
Now take Kevin Williams (pro bowler) Udeze (comming off a great rookie year) along with Smoot, Darius (if possible) Winfield, Chavous, and our linebackers? (who the hell is still a LB on our team, oh yeah, Napolean Harris :shuffle: )
OK anyways our LB's arent the best so far, but oh well....
VIKES TO THE SUPER BOWL! (On my 2k5 game)

well, still 20 mill to fiddle around with. Ed Hartwell, Sam Cowart(pending cut), Derrick Brooks(pending cut), Julian Peterson or possibly Derrick Johnson with the #7.

It kinda sucks though for me as a skins fan. Smoot was the one with personallity and was a pretty solid CB. Not champ bailey who i think was overrated especially on the Broncos this year, but still solid.
The worst thing about it, is that we are trying to get an O working and 2 big names on the D left.

We have won more games in one season then you have in two, so lets not go there, plus atleast we can get to the super bowl and the NFC championship games, and plus i think it's funny how everyone talks about the 3NFC games we lost, while the teams that talk shit about us are the one's who are watching the eagles from home. And yeah, i don't see the Vikes in the playoffs this year, and if they do make it, it's becuase it comes down on another team having to lose in order for them to get it, unlike the eagles who secured they're home field and 1st round bye by week 12.

I dont agree with it one bit. We're 1 draft pick away from getting Donovan Darius(proven SS, ask Robert Ferguson ;) ). We got the #7 overall pick. The #18 overall pick, pending Darius trade seeks through and what we got left. AND STILL HAVE 20 MILLION TO SPEND. But we wont improve with all of that either will we?
Did i mention we have a top 3 QB at the helm?
Kleinsassers back, a true FB/TE thatll really open up the running game. Our O-Line which suffered dramatic injuries, Birk-hernia, Liuenski(sp). Still gotta nice YOUNG core of running backs in Smith, Moore(250 all purpose yard avg in like 4 games) and Bennet, who is trade bait.
I dunno, still WAY to early to be making predictions i believe. Sure this team RIGHT NOW, wont win like 7 games. But if we deal our money right, pick the right players, we'll add on more wins to that total. June 1st cuts will also free up some nice MLB if projected right; Derrick Brooks and Sam Cowart might highlite that list.
Oh well, i dont wanna argue a whole 6 months before kickoff on who will finish where, who hasnt improved etc. I just hope and pray that the vikes will do the right things which'll change a lot of doubters minds in here.

Smoot is a great addition to the vikings, but him alone does not make them a contender, they need more defensive men, like Samari Rolle just a name in the hat, they have 20mill to spend, start trading some guys out for some draft picks, i don't think there's anyone else in the free agency thats young enuff to help the vikes. Go young and start fresh.
I dont agree with it one bit. We're 1 draft pick away from getting Donovan Darius(proven SS, ask Robert Ferguson.
Sure that would be another great addition to what the Vikings already have, Which is still nothing, Look, Free Agency does not solve all your problems, you need some draft picks.
how many times are you gonna say that?? good lord its like youre a fucking parrot.
Hey let him say that, thats their only highlight. Let them enjoy the cheap shot while the packs contend for the championship.
Well thats great, the eagles have correll buckhalter healthy this year, which we didn't have in the running game last season, with the addition of him being back from an season injury in the pre season last year, this will most definitley open our play action up, then we have Westbrook,T.O,L.J. Smith, G. Lewis,C.Lewis and then the Passer,Runner which is AKA Half Man and Half Amazing Mcnabb! That right there is just an unbelievable line up that would make the Vikings pay off the eagles not to play them.
I see youre a fellow longhorn fan, thou will not get in fighteth with own brotherin?

We got our draft picks definately, 3 in the top 50. Sittin good there, just need to see what our Darius situation is which wouldnt cost us to lose any picks if all goes as projected.

I honestly think that if B. Favre returns this year, Then i think they have a real good shot. The Eagles are the Dominate team in the NFC and have been for the past 4-5yrs, the only team that has contended with them on a constant basis has been the Packers year in and year out, the falcons didn't even put up a fight, so i don't think they'll do too good against us, the vikes definitley won't contend with the Eagles, but i think the packers have the best shot, even though they had a bad season. If Favre returns this year then they have the best chance at going to the Super Bowl in my book. His family problems will be resolved and the pressure i think will be off, now he can focus on getting to the super bowl. And if you think Culpepper is better than mcnabb then look again, Mcnabb thrown 30 sum odd TD's with 7INT(BEST IN NFL,plus making Team history in yards thrown, Most completions and less amount of INT'S), and Culpepper thrown for i think 39TDs with double digit INTS. Both Mcnabb and Culpepper are outstanding QB's and make that much of a difference on their team.
STiSchucky
03-10-2005, 01:02 PM
Yeah both are outstanding. PERSONALLY I think its Culpepper over Manning/Mncabb(I just think Culpeppers got the same attributes as Mcnabb, just a better accuracy). Culpeppers got the same mobility as Mcnabb to, which both definately pass Manning. Manning can definately spot the weak part of the defense which is why he audibles on the line all the time. Its very close between those 3 and if you throw in Brady(Great under pressure but above avg in regular season). Damn I dunno. I guess it just goes by who you like better, which is why I put DC11 infront of Dmizzle.

03-10-2005, 01:15 PM
I still think Mcnabb is better than Culpepper. Sure, for their careers, Culpepper has been more accurate and has thrown a better deep ball, but he's always had better receivers. For instance, he's always had Moss. Didn't he start out with Chris Carter too?
Here's McNabb's list of starting wide receivers: Torrance Small, Charles Johnson, Todd Pinkston, and James Thrash. In 2000, he led the team to the playoffs with an 11-5 record. This team featured WRs Torrance Small and Charles Johnson and RB Darnell Autry.
McNabb, 5 years in the league, 4 as a starter - 4 playoff appearances, 3 NFC Championship Games and 1 super bowl apperance, even though we lost all 4 Championship games.
Culpepper's had superior talent around him his entire career. Can you blame McNabb for not being as accurate or not throwing the deep ball when there's no one to throw to? Even given that, McNabb has something like the 2nd lowest interception percentage among QBs all time.
This isn't a knock on Culpepper as he's a pretty good QB and one of the top 3 in the league, but McNabb over Culpepper all the way.
The only thing good about manning is that he can read the D better than anyone i have seen, plus he can throw the ball Deep like no other, but he has no mobility, I.E. if he had the cowboy's O-line he would suck real bad, the colts O-Line gets no credit, they are a major part in Manning's success.
TheTechnician
03-10-2005, 03:03 PM
i think manning is better than both of them....scrambling means nothing when the ball is already in the air. Manning probably got sacked less then mcnabb and cullpepper this year anyway.

He just has TO to help scoop em up. Its just a personal opinion. Looks like this year will be culpeppers first without a main primary target. Oh well, should be alright. Without moss last year he went 1-4 with 2 last second field goals(at GB, at Indy). Meh. No need to explain what that leads to with our free agent signings.

:insane: OK CHIEF. Whatever you say.
Well, let's see here...
1. Tom Brady. The man is a winner, pure and simple. He is what a QB should be.
2. Don McNabb is what Daunte wishes he were. And he doesn't fumble.
3. AirMcNair... see above. Tough guy, winner.
4. Brett Favre. He may be old, but he still is a much better QB than 95% of the guys out there. He has what it takes to win games. A team with BF at the helm is never out of the game.
5. PayMeATon Whining. If only he knew how to win. This kid has all the other tools. BUt as long as he is a loser, he'll never be any better than #5
6. Daunte: not a leader, not a winner. But he does know how to fumble. This kid will probably put it together one of these days. But at this stage, he is still behind these other guys.
And there is the enigma that is Mike Vick. I think he is more an athlete than a QB at this stage, but with proper training and dedication, he may grow into it...
So you are right, I was indeed wrong. Daunte is not a top-5 QB in this league. He is a top-6 QB :D
