Incase you don't know...
CAR: 1996 Chevy Camaro RS
ENGINE: 3.8L V-6 200HP/200TQ
TRANNY: Automatic
1/4 TIME: 15.0 from what I've heard

Alright, it's starting to look like spring! Finally! The convertibles are out too! I'm going down the freeway to my friend's, crusing along. I hear a 4 banger speed up and I see a Honda Prelude and a 80's Supra speed pass me. They both have HUGE wings, shiny rims, and body kits. I'm pretty sure they were racing, they stop and slow down to about my speed and the Honda rolls down his window. I have the T-Top off and the windows down so he can see me, and he points to me and speeds up then slows down. I finally notice who this ass is and realize hes one of my neighbors. I laugh(jokingly) to piss him off and he flips out and speeds up again, this time the Supra follows. They slow down AGAIN and are in line with me and he points to me AGAIN and speeds up. I jokingly speed up and he rolls up his window. This'll be the SECOND race in my RS, do they know it's a V6? I'm not sure if I'm going to win or not as I don't know about Preludes and the 80's Supra, but I go anyways. I hear the Honda beep three times and I floor it, they pulled on me hard at first. The Prelude was half a car up and the Supra was further up but I couldn't see due to the Prelufe blocking my view. Then I started pulling on the Prelude, pretty bad too. I passed it pretty quick and started pulling on the Supra. I quickly pulled on the Supra and by the time I slowed down I was a car and a half ahead. Fun! Once again my pisspot Camaro V6 proves it's got SOME power.

if it's the 3800, it will have a very good power curve, the one in my 90 Olds 88 pulls pretty much everything up here, except of course the one 350z, ZO6, and TransAm...which is why I want to pull it out when the olds dies and rebuild it, slap the GM supercharger on it, and put it into some small/light car, thinking an 80s Firebird 2.8 (as I have no money to begin with).

Yep it's the 3800 Series.

that engine is in my olds intrigue, it has great acceleration up until about 45mph and then it dies :( And I do agree that engine DOES have power.. enough to push you back into your seat when flooring it in 1st gear right off the bat.

That's weird, mine pulls until I let off the gas, and it'll pull uphill! My 86 Chevy has to floor it to keep it at 80km/h up a hill in town, my Olds will accelerate up it faster than some of the ricers can on a flat...which reminds me, I have to figure out it's 0-100 time...

yeh idk what it is.. my mom has an 04 alero GLS and that thing is a monster until around 45mph again! :banghead: maybe its just the newer olds and Im beginning to wonder if that has anything to do with olds downfall

nah, Olds died (unfortunately, oldest North American auto brand, and introduced so many firsts) because it was the middle child, with an identity problem. I don't know why your cars seem to lack power around 45, I've been in a few Aleros and they are damned fast, pull better than my '90 Eighty Eight...

ohh shit the alero has quite the punch.. I don't know why people underestimate it.. I mean yeah its a 6 cyl.. and yeah it may be more of a "girly" car .. but hey its always fun to leave my friend who has a 86 mustang GT in the dust for a few seconds off the bat :) ..

Damn GM uses that 3800 a lot.
