I've played electric guitar for a while. I'm looking for a electric guitar, but not sure which to get. Should I get an American Strat (vintage??) or I'm thinking a Gibson. What guitar do you have, and what do you think I should get?

Well since you've been playing for a while a strat or a gibson (I'm guessing a Les Paul) would be fine. Try to look around though. Another good company that isnt't quite as popular as those two is Schecter. Of course, you could also get a Jackson.

I got a made in japan IBANEZ with tremello locking system. The locking system is good coz it really never gets out of tune, but changing strings and tuning it is a fuss.

I've always prefered Gibsons.
You stated one brand.
You've got close to a grand to spend....
Go with your gut/heart.

This is misinformation.
An american is not a standard just made in america. I worked as a Retail manager for a music shop for a long time and have worked closely with all guitar manufacturers, including fender. Everything about the guitars is different. From the wood used to make them to the electronics placed in them. If a salesmen told you otherwise, he is either an idiot or he thinks you can't afford the american and wants to make a sale on something so he will tell you the standard is the same thing.

As far as which guitar to get, Every manufacturer will make a guitar in every price range, it's all about what you prefer. I personally like PRS, The frets are typically done better from the factory, the wood is treated more carefully and the tone is more consistent than most other leading manufacturers, they just require less work to get them playing like a pro would want. Gibson is right behind them, but still quite a ways behind, ever since the company was sold they have really let their quality control slip.

Do you already have an amp, or will u need to include that in the $900 range? If so, i think u should get a nice amp, maybe some effects and a Ephipone with your money left, they are nice too.
