Hey,

In July of 2004 a video of me playing Super Mario songs on the piano was put on the main page of Ebaum's World.

Today I recorded a medley of Zelda songs on the piano as well as performed "Banjo Race" from Earthworm Jim.

Pretty good, but its pretty much straight covers of the game music.

Not a video but similar to this, check out this 17 minute long video game music piano solo done by Torley Wong. Covers 22 clasic games and most styles of piano music.

...That was amazing. You are like my idol haha. Do you take any requests? If you do, you should learn some Pokemon songs. I know I know pokemon sucks, but i remember playing that game and humming the PokeCenter song and the battle song. Yah I know I'm a loser. haha. I'm pretty sure that you can rock those songs like crazy though if u try.

I still dont understand why all of you are amazed when you see someone blindfolded playing, it makes no sense what so ever.

It's good to see someone w/ so much talent who also has a sense of humor about himself.
And when you played "A Whole New World," from Aladdin, I almost went gay for you. (Although with me, that's not much of a leap.) If you'd play it just for me, there's no telling where the night might take us. (Pretend that's a sexy shy face, not a sarcastic one.)

Edit: Oooh! Oooh! You should play the theme from The X-Files like Peter did on Family Guy. For me? (Again w/ the pretending.)

No offense intended, but this clip is a perfect example of why the Chinese (and other Northeast Asians) are going to whip the ass of the USA.

My two cents.

P.S. I'm jealous.

Can you record playing Pokemon songs for us, or for me at least? That would be so awesome!

Btw, I'll get a piano keyboard soon so I can start playing the video game music myself. Where do you get the songsheets to play all that?

Also, what school was that filmed at and why were you there at night?

I'm half-Korean (while one half of that half comes from North Korea TTYTT.) and you know what I think? My thoughts exactly!

Alright, I will say that you are a very good pianist, but as a fellow piano player who arranged most of the songs you've played myself, I have to say:

Your technique isn't exactly perfect (Neither is mine, but one thing you did wrong, is when you pressed down the same key multiple times, you use 3 2 1, 3 2 1, not 2 2 2, 2 2 2.

In my opinion, the main Zelda theme sounded very sloppy in places. Mind you, it's good, i'm not saying it's not, but the tempo was very unstable, and the octaves in the bass region overpowered the melody in places. try playing the accompaniment an octave higher, or playing mf, not FF.

Everything else was pretty good, but I play the "Game Over - Continue?" melody an octave higher than you do. I really loved the dungeon theme. :)

You are a good pianist, but other than the dungeon theme, you need to work on those songs a bit.

Also, I don't know who was holding the camera, but I got nauseated when the camera kept twisting, and spinning upside down. . .huagh! What's wrong with pointing a camera at you without twisting it all over the place?

Maybe if I can get some good strings players, i'll post a video up here of some strings arrangements of stuff like this; The Zelda theme sounds awesome on cellos, and brass.

A One Winged Angel or the FF7 world theme remix, "A World of Piano" would be delightful.

By the way, excellent job with the Zelda theme, I've never seen that sheet music so I'm assuming you 'sparked it up' yourself?

Making me want a digital camera so I can play you guys some Final Fantasy (know just about every song from FF1-7, a little bit of 8 and 10) 'till the Video Game Pianist does himself, which I'm sure'd be more spectacular.

Awesome performance. Though, let's here some of the well-tempered clavier, or Beethoven’s Emperor, or some Liszt. I mean, come on man, in the grand scheme of things, what you play in that video is a warm up routine for the real stuff. Show us what you’re really made of.

Once I get myself a piano keyboard and the songsheet to Zelda's music, I'll keep playing it over and over again for many hours to perfect playing it.

After all, isn't the Zelda song meant to be played over and over again infinitely?

Btw, does anyone know the words to that Overworld theme?

chomusclavus
07-12-2005, 02:10 PM
Oh, and if a horde of space colonists establishes the land of Hyrule on another planet, makes that Overworld theme the "national anthem", and even makes the place look like Hyrule (after Terraforming the planet, of course), will copyright laws still apply even outside of Earth??

Does anyone know the lyrics to the Zelda Light Overworld theme? I think that song is very upbeat, but now if I only knew the words, that be t3h ub3rn355.

Nah I think the links gone. I tried looking on drunken delight too, but they only have the zelda one. Cool site though. (am I allowed to say that?)

I learned a few of the mario ones and Axel F. before that stupid crazy frog went and wrecked it for me. As a piano player, the novelty of playing the song from a video or a theme tune you know wears off after about 20 minutes, so I find it a bit unbearable to spend a lot of time on them. The mario ones especially just get irratating to listen to after a while. I also realised that the only reason I was doing it was to impress a bunch of people who don't give a shit about the piano, so I can't be assed to learn any more of them. I mean if these tunes weren't attached to these old school games, do you really think anyone would care? They're not that amazing as pieces of music.

Has anyone else heard Christopher Riley's piano transcriptions of Radiohead songs? At the very least they're interesting. His version of 'bulletproof' rocks ass.
