View Full Version : Iron Maiden kicks ass
For those of you who do not know much or any about Maiden, I'd suggest taking a look at some of these sites:
http://www.ironmaiden.com/homepage.php?section=0&subsection=0
http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/
or just google them.
And for everyone who knows and loves Maiden, ROCK ON! I love Bruce Dickinson's voice; I think it's unique and DAMN he can sing well! He's no Ronnie James (personal favorite vocalist), but IMO, he's up there.
And their songs! Good God they've got some good shit.
Fear of the Dark
Powerslave
Dance of Death
Trooper
The Evil That Men Do
Brave New World (the entire album is good)
and many, many more. Their concerts are phenomenal as well. Saw 'em in Columbus a couple years ago, and although I haven't been to many concerts in my life, I don't think I'll ever see a better one. Simply amazing. And if you haven't heard/owned the Rock in Rio album, I would HIGHLY recommend going out and buying it immediately.
I just had this urge to talk about how awesome Maiden is, so feel free to comment.

Hell Yeah, Man! Iron Maiden are my second favorite band. Bruce's vocals kick it major and The Number of the Beast is one of the best metal albums ever!
Just seeing Eddie in all of his forms make me want to Run to the Hills and make my Infinite Dreams come true!
Rock on.

2 months ago, I hadn't heard one of their songs. Now I have 17 of their albums and they're my second fav band. They're brilliant. Steve Harris is an amazing bassist and Bruce Dickinson is one of the best vocalists ever (just listen to his vibrato on Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter). Meanwhile, gotta love the drumming and the guitar.
Fav Maiden Album = Number of the Beast
Fav Maiden Songs =
Hallowed Be Thy Name, Number of the Beast, Can I Play with Madness, Run to the Hills, Fear of the Dark, The Clansman, Dance of Death, Charlotte the Harlot and more

Iron Maiden to me used to be the everything of music. I have since moved on...though I still agree they kick MAJOR ass, they cant hold a candle to Pink Floyd or even Dream Theater, the only thing they do better than Dream Theater is lyrics, but Pink Floyd has them in everything. My favorite Maiden songs are probably "Hallowed Be Thy Name" "Dance of Death" and "Fear of the Dark".

Iron Maiden and Pink Floyd are two very different bands. It seems kind of unfair to claim Floyd's better. It be better to say, compare Iron Maiden to Metallica or Metallica to Megadeth.
I don't even know who the hell Dream Theater is...
Good songs you chose, though.

You dont know Dream Theater? Check them out definately, they are great. Anyways, I think if its music it can be compared. I find Iron Maiden's songs to be very linear and they seem to follow the same formula for each song(hey, if it works it works) anyways I'm not trying to bring them down because they ARE great.

Iron Maiden is an amazing band. I really like Killers and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Some of my favorite songs are Wrathchild, Genghis Khan, Can I Play With Madness, and Hallowed be Thy Name.
And for those of you that haven't heard Dream Theater, I highly recommend listening to them. They are probably the most talented band I've ever heard. Some good songs are Pull Me Under, Learning to Live, A Change of Seasons, The Glass Prison, or any song off of the album Scenes From a Memory (it's a concept album, so it's much better to listen to straight through).

personally, i dont like the new maiden album. yes, i like some of their songs like rainmaker, no more lies, and dance of death, but now that martin birch is gone (does anyone know why) and that steve harris is producing, its just not the same. bruce sounds different, and they have "Janick" in. I like the old maiden much better. they were just, better. the new album doesnt have that touch...it seems to be too clear, and just not mixed the same way that birch did it.
besides that...iron maiden is definantly one of my top 3
edit// im going to ozz fest august 28 i think it is. it sucks because maidens not coming there, which is a big dissapointment to me. :(

The first 5 albums are metal masterpieces.
I know this is gonna sound like blasphemy but I actually liked Paul Dianno better than Bruce.

I seriously cannot get enough of Maiden. Apparently the bassline of the Clairvoyant is the bassline of the Number of the Beast backwards. :bang:
