Pop-ups/adware/viruses

At the moment im using the free versions of AVG and Ad-Aware but im still running a lot slower than i should and im constanly bombarded by pop-ups (also using ff)

I need to reformat sooner or later but short of that i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions,

First, you need to get something else besides the free version of AVG. AVG has been going down hill for the last year. I recommend you start using good virus protection such as NOD32, Norton, Zone Alarm, or some other one that you pay for. If you cant afford or too cheap, use Avast (http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10375520.html?tag=lst-0-1) it is free, good and cheap.

For spyware, I find Spybot (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10289035.html?tag=lst-0-1) is the best to use.

For Pop ups, get a pop up blocker, or switch to the latest version of Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/).

Erm, the best advice I could give you is to get spybot search&destroy, it's awesome.
As for your pop-up problem...use firefox.
And i'm sure others will suggest some good stuff too.

also a better spyware program is microsoft's anti spyware (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx)
