Can someone give me links to websites on what can happen to your eyes if they aren't fitted right and people have shared them and such? I would really appreciate it!

There are other sites than ebaums. (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&c2coff=1&safe=off&q=contact+lenses+improperly+fitted+risks&spell=1)

I did some research before getting my contacts and i did not find many sites with the information i was looking for about contact lenses. I did talk to the optical doctor who fitted me with them and she made it sound like you can really mess up your eyes wearing contacts that are not fitted for you personally. I also found out that rubbing your eyes with them in could possibly scratch the cornea, have to do it pretty hard. Your best bet is to call a medical clinin or something and just ask a Optometrist(sp?), i think those are the ones that would know.

i had it for a brief time and was never comfortable with it. it had this sharp feel to it for me. i had to constantly rub my eye which made it really red. im back to wearing glasses now.

There are many different types and brands of contacts. If one didn't work for you, I would consider looking at another one.

I've worn contacts for 8 years and would never go back to glasses again. I use AcuView. My mother uses gas permeables and seems to have more problems with dry eyes with those, but she's so tight she refuses to switch since they cost a little more (and I do mean a little - about $30 more a year). Old timers stick hard to old ways though.

Regarding risks? I've only heard of one personally from my eye doctor. Contacts can prevent oxygen from reaching your eye which is supposed to be a bad thing. If you leave them in over a long period of time (multiple days or multiple weeks, depending on the type), they can damage your eye and cause some condition, glaucoma I believe it is.

Take them out daily before bed, and it won't be a concern though. If for some reason you dislike taking them out that often, there are also thinner lenses which allow you to leave them in longer without any harm to your eyes. I use those kind, but I still take them out daily just because it makes my eyes feel better.

If you have some condition that causes extremely dry eyes, contacts might be annoying for your eyes. There are solutions though which you can drip into your eyes to make contacts more comfortable to wear.

I dont know. I believe i just read an article recently that being exposed to too much oxygen can actually cause you to go blind faster. I dont know if there is any truth to it, but im pretty sure it was an article on msn just about 5 days ago. I thought it was hard to believe. The information on it just came out and it was study carried out i believe in the 1960's.

One more risk is that some people have toxic like reactions to certian brands of contact lense solutions. I know that I feel like ripping my eyes out whenever I use certian brands while others feel great.

Just get a one month trial pair and some some small tester bottles of solution to see whic ones are good for you.
