It's its own fuel, it doesn't need oxygen. water thins it out instead of extinguishing. I guess that'd be the 'special water-resistant quality'

Yeah you need special chemicals, or just sand, to put out an alcohol fire. Water is probably the worst thing you could put on it.

If you're stupid enough to be voluntarily doused in alcohol and then purposefully set yourself on fire, you pretty much deserve third-degree burns :insane:

Not ONLY does water help the fire spread...
But the kid was dumb enough to not know he was already on fire the first time he lit it...
Alcohol burns clear.. not orange or blue (butane) like most other things...
It turns orange because the suit finnaly starts to catch

If they were smart they would have added salt to the alcohol becasue salt burns orange/yellow makeing it visible.. also they would have had a hole for him to jump in and a couple people with shovels and a dirt mound ready to bury him when they need to put it out...
or just not have done it..

also they could have filed down soem copper wire (to almost powder state) and put taht it although taht takes alot of work but would have looked alot cooler since copper burns green if i remember corectly

Yes all fires do need oxygen to burn. Its one of the three elements for fire. (Heat, fuel, and oxygen) remove anyone of the three and the fire goes out. Basic fire training... And alcohol burns clear, you cannot see it at all when it is on fire. This is why many Formula 1 racers get seriously injured, from the fire which you cannot see, as it spreads.

its the same reason why water doesnt put an oil spill fire. it actually spreads it. so spraying him with water actually made it worse. they should of used a dry powder. bc carbon dioxide is heavyer than air and would put the flames out. yeah theyre dumbasses for doign that with out knowing what they were doing.
