Me and a friend have been debating on what is the best competition in all of european football. I think that the champions league is best, he thinks that it is the premiership. I am an Arsenal fan and we have won the league 13 times, the FA Cup 9 times, but still do not have a European Cup/Champions Leage title to our name. this leads me to believe that the champions league is the hardest to win, and the competition that i would want to win the most. The champions league is also by far the most exciting as every game is so important and also because you get to play teams that you dont normally get to play against. In domestic leagues nowadays, the same old teams win year after yeat while their is more variety in the CL. I think that most people would admit that champions league nights are just different from regular premier league games. Honestly, I consider the premiership as just a big qualifier for the champions league.
Here are my order of priorities as a football fan
1. Champions League
2. Prem
3. FA Cup
4. League Cup
5. Other (Community Shield etc.)
Let me know what you would consider to be the greatest football tournament.

The NFL Playoffs. ;)
But seriously, the World Cup and the Olympics.

I think the English competition is the most fun to watch, but the Italian and Spanish league are better and maybe even the German competition.

There is more luck involved in winning the champions League than a proper league becasue it is a knock-out competition towards the end. Therefore if a brilliant side has one bad game or a load of injuries they will be out, also sides can get easy draws and avoid playing most of the best teams. The advantage of the Champions league is the quality of the teams involved and the fact it can be exciting.

The disadvantage on the other hand is that a lot of the good teams play boring football (Take AC Milan, Chelsea and Juventus, this year) and it's the small teams that play attacking that're fun to watch.

The best club competition is the Champions League, anyone who thinks otherwise is a mong!
The second best competition is the FA cup.
The best national comp is the World Cup obviously.

Depends on how you define 'best'. If it is with the clubs that play with most succes, then yes the CL is the best competition. But if you see 'best' as nicest to watch, I'ld go with either the FA-cup or the Primiera Division (Spain).

Ill admit that the premiership can be pretty exciting some times, but the
champions league is just on a different level. Their is something about playing
at night that just adds to the atmosphere. Every game is so important, and
even if the game is dull, it is still watchable because of what is at stake.
Would you rather be champions of your country, or of all of Europe?

I totaly agree with you as far as evening kickoffs go, though it is tradition that games in England K/O at 3pm on a saturday but since SKY TV has come along games are on random days at random times.
There is summat about evening K/Os, especialy at Anfield, think its that more people are up for it rather than when games K/O at like 12pm when everyone is still half asleep, also by the time a game K/Os in the evening around 8pm half the people in the crowd have had quite a few beers down them.
