Tim Couch.

When he was at Kentucky, he was great.

He was greater than great.

He took Kentucky to its first winning season since 1993 and to a third-place finish in the SEC East, as well as a New Year's Day Bowl Game.

Then, he went to the NFL.

He was the biggest bust since the Hindenberg, made worse by the fact that he was the first pick in the draft.

Tim Couch: A great college player, An NFL wanna-be.

Football is a tough sport to predict wether a player can handle switching levels...for example, think about how many high schoolers can't make it in the college game...you have hundreds...people need to understand that football changes when you move up a level...

Derek Jeter...not worth 18 million a year. People consider him one of the best in baseball, but he is the 5th best player on his team

Arod is overated, sure he has good stats. BUT he leaves Seattle and what happens they do good, goes to the Rangers and they suck, leaves the Rangers and they did better last year. Last year in the playoffs against the Red Sox, the first three games he did good, then the finals 4 games of that series, 0 RBI.

I think that the most overated football (soccer) player is Freddy Adu. People make such a big deal over him here in America and I know that hes only 15 but still, I have watched him play and i have seen nothing that special about him. In Europe, he would probably be good enough for a reserve side of some big team.

As for Beckham, you dont become captain of England by being a pretty boy.

Dominique Wilkins- NBA

I see people rating him in the top 10 of best NBA players. I never saw him as that good. I mean I didn't like Bird but when he would shoot a 3 and then run and get his rebound before it hit the ground for the put back tap shot, pretty amazing. Yeah Wilkins can jump through the roof but when it comed to games, he would score his 30 pts. but would his team win?

hmm id have to say mark mcguire was very over-rated.. he broke a record.. but he cheated to do it. if anyone read up on the balco scandel, it was a type of undected steriod, they tested it on number of athletes.. Mark Mcguire (brokke the HR Record.. then it got shattered after that by bonds and others) Tim Montgomery (Broke the world Record in the 100m, but since been off and was caught for balco hasnt made an important 100m final)
there has been others, labron James isnt over-rated, he does what he does, hes 19-20 years old and hes one of the top players in the nba... wait till hes 28 years old and he ha had a shit load more experince, Randy moss is by far the best WR out there, check his stats, not even close to being over-rated, i dont liek soccer so i never watch it so i cant argue anyone there,

most over-rated baseball player... all of em, speciall Arod.... no one is worth a 200 million dollar contract... thats horeshit, they need 2 teams to pay it off.. thats retarted
most over-rated football player - Tom Brady, Priest Holmes.. tom brady isnt good... his defence is good
if tom brady is truly good, then we'll see how far he gets this year now that the pats have lost a good chunk of there defence, priest holmes is over rated becuase 1. they only use him inside their 20 yd line, and 2 anyone can score 30 + tds a year runnig behind transport trucks... it was proven the one game homles left in the second... they put their second string in. .scored 4 tds along with holmes, 8tds on the ground in one game? Offensive line... although the cheifs have BEEFED UP Their defence heavly, so with there amazing ground unit socring the 4+tds a game.. and their amazing defence.. their gonan be ateam to watch out for

I can't believe you'd say that. He is easily the best quarterback in the NFL, with the exception of Manning, but until he wins a title, he's always going to be second rate. I don't care how many touchdowns you can throw in a season; if you don't win a championship, then what's the point? Congratulations, you're mediocre! The majority of quarterbacks in the NFL today are pathetic; they don't know how to deal with pressure situations and they aren't dominant enough to hold onto a job for more than a few years. Brady just looks like a natural out on the field; he doesn't make stupid-ass mistakes all the time, and he knows how to work the defense when he's under pressure. Even though Vinatieri has saved his ass in the Superbowls, the games wouldn't have been close if Brady wasn't the quarterback. He's one of the few players who have won multiple championships that doesn't let the superiority get to his head; I've never read about him bashing another team or saying something stupid about one of his players. He earns every cent of his paycheck.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm............... top bust?????
Ryan Leaf

Nope, the top bust EVER was Tony Mandarich. Everyone thought that he was gonna tear up the NFL, AND he was drafted #2 after Troy Aikman and before Barry Sanders and Deion Sanders. He was supposed to be the greatest offensive line prospect of all time, but Ryan Leaf wasn't even the top QB prospect in his draft class.

Just because Randy Moss is lazy doesn't mean hes overrated. He gets the job done, and he does it well, but he would obviously be a lot better if he tried while doing it.

Leading the MLB in homeruns at the beginning of May means nothing, especially when their team isnt winning like they should be.

Babe Ruth, and many other players from that era because there was much less competition, no performance enhancers, but alot less competition because only whites were allowed.

Then I'd have to say Mark Mcgwire. He crushed hr's, but never had a good average, never stole bases, didnt win gold gloves. Basically if he wasnt hitting balls over the fence he wasnt doing anything else. But i guess he served his purpose.

Being an a bust in the NFL doesn't make you overrated. You can't be considered overrated if nobody thinks you're good.

mark mcguire was very over-rated.. he broke a record.. but he cheated to do it. if anyone read up on the balco scandel, it was a type of undected steriod, they tested it on number of athletes.. Mark Mcguire (brokke the HR Record.. then it got shattered after that by bonds and others)
Not sure where you're coming from with the "and others" part, becuase Bonds is the only player to ever hit more then 70 Hrs in a season.

A-ROD is good but Vald Guerrero is a better all round player....oh he doesn't strike out 100+ times a year like #13 either!
Pujols is better then Guerrero. He hits for higher average, higher OBP, more power, and is able to go opposite field with power and consistency like nobody in the league.

I disagree, i would put Bonds(healthy), Beltran, Pujols, and possibly Vlad Guererro ahead of him.
I disagree about the Beltran part. Beltran is faster, but A-Rod hits for much better power and higher average, and he outperforms Beltran defensively. Plus Beltran's only hit for .300 twice in his career.

To everyone complaing about A-Rod's ridiculous contract: being over-paid doesn't make you over-rated, and in A-Rod's case, it just means you were the best free-agent on the market with a lot of desperate teams, and you have a great agent(Scott Boras).

Being a MU alum I have to defend Dwayne Wade from hambone. Dwayne Wade is in no way over rated. Lemme guess, you just started to hear all about him in the playoffs right? Of course because now he's finally getting the attention since the Heat have tore through everyone. He didnt get any real attention during the regular season but now with Shaq being limited the entire playoffs Heat has exploded and the majority of the time without Shaq.

From espn.com: In the 10 contests this season in which Wade has played and Shaq hasn't, the second-year guard is averaging 27.1 points per game and shooting 52.5 percent from the field.

He has already put himself in rarified company. In just his second season, he has joined Bob Cousy, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Michael as the only players to average at least 25 points, eight dimes and six boards while shooting 50 percent from the floor in a playoff series.

Ok, I'm not trying to diss you or anything but I'm an Marquette University alum and to put him as over rated I think is just way off.

But I think you or someone put Ryan Leaf and I agree with that one.

No. You Didnt?

Martin Brodeur's outstanding record doesnt 'get credit' based on his team playing the trap.
Now Im not even gonna get into whether The Devils really play the trap as much as they are called on it...
.. but this changes nothing for Brodeur since his job and his credit stand or fall on what happens when opposing players are NOT TRAPPED.[that is to say not they or the puck they are shooting at the net]

BRODEUR! overated?

hahaha the guy has so much accomplished in his career, sure in the NHL he is behind a trapping team. but what about when he plays for canada, he stands on his head in most games even with NJ.

brodeur has the smallest pads in the NHL and is BY FAR the best goalie in the NHL today, much better than the overated Patrick Roy, sure he was good. but the guy had the biggest pads and there was no where to shoot. he was good but no Brodeur, elias is underated IMO. he puts up big numbers with a defensive team. imagine if he had some skill playing with him?

here is some overrated hockey

Peter Forsberg- the guy cant score over 30 goals. he flopps all over the ice and dives like a baby. he gets ALLOT of assists thats why he gets so much credit. he has a HUGE build. if he used it instead of being a pussy, he would be more affective.

Mats Sundin- look at his stats. they are good dont get me wrong. but when people talk about him on TV they make him out to be the swedish god of hockey. naslund has more points than any player in the NHL ther past 3 years combined and he gets no recognition exept for within the NHL how he won the Lester B. Pearson award. last time sundin put up a 100+ point season was back in 1993 with Quebec.

Sidney Crosby- he is a GREAT junior player, but dont you EVER say he is Wayne Gretzky, he COULD have a great pro career, but he hasnt yet. he hasnt even played 1 game in the pros and people are calling him Wayne fucking GRetzky. give me a break. he is a junior player and dont rank him with the greatest of all time when the kid hasnt played 1 NHL game.
