Now if the bases are loaded the batter is walked the run that scores is that scored as an RBI? I was asked and I frozen on it. I know that the batter is scored with a Base on Balls.

Yes. I've seen people get the "game-winning RBI" off of a play like that a few times.

Credit the batter with a run batted in for every run which reaches home base because of the batter's safe hit, sacrifice bunt, sacrifice fly, infield out or fielder's choice; or which is forced over the plate by reason of the batter becoming a runner with the bases full (on a base on balls

Hope this helps.

Good Question.

So a WILD PITCH gets the batter nada? Or was he in the right place at the right time?

Heres the best RBI question ever:

Do you get an RBI if a run scores because you hit into a double play?

If there is no outs, then yeah it's an RBI.

actually, no RBI is awarded. Its rule 10.04-a-b under Exception, there was a question about it at my game last week and i was pretty sure there was no RBI and looked it up to be sure and there it was under exception.

(b) Do not credit a run batted in when the batter grounds into a force double play or a reverse force double play.

its one of my favorite pet peeves in baseball.

What I never understood is How can a runner on base tag up on a pop fly foul boul? It's foul!

Because its called a sacrifice fly, if it is caught in the air, you can do tag up no matter where it is.

I look at it this way, since the ball is playable for the fielder to catch, it should be playable for the runner to tag up on.

So its the same as a fielders choice basically when the batter doesnt get given a hit.

say theres runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out.

batter hits into a double play, but they do a hit and run. if that runner scores before the 2nd out of the double play, the batter gets an RBI.

no they dont, its 3 outs and the inning is over, no runs.

Another thing I dont understand is When a batter strikes out but the catcher drops the ball and the batter reaches first. Why is it still called a strike out? He's not "out", he's on first base????

It is a strike out, because strike three was called. He is allowed to advance because it is considered a wild pitch (or a dropped ball), in which case all runners are free to advance as they please. I believe Nolan Ryan once got 4 strikeouts in one inning.

you can technically strike out as many guys as you want in an inning, every now and then in Sports Illustrated theres mention of a high school kid or something with 5 K's in an inning.

I could never figure out the reasoning behind the dropped third strike, any speculation? I know how it works, but why?

I'm not sure this was answered, but a fielder's choice gets an RBI. Guy on 3rd, no out, groundout to second baseman 4-3, the batter is 0-1 with an 1 run batter in. The double play is the exception.

does anybody else who watches pro baseball hate the fact that the batters never hustle right away out of the box? they start running full speed when they round first, but they just about crawl to first itself. fucking big timers.

i hate that also. Only a select few players actually hustle on an easy groundball/flyball. The ones i know: H. Matsui, Bernie Williams, Ichiro, Tony Womack, D. Jeter.

brewers are 2nd in the NLC, behind the cardinals of course :)

They also have the best player than no one has ever heard of, Brady Clark. Hitting around .340, i think 2nd in the bigs in runs scored. He took Johan Santana out of the park the other night. MVP type numbers so far.

Its too bad how the Brewers shelled both Pedro Martinez and Johan Santana for 4+ runs each, but still found a way to lose the games against them

Yea, I went to Saturday's game at the dome. We couldn't hit worth of shit against Doug Davis, who at the time had an ERA above 5. It pissed me off.

they are pretty good this year actually. They finally have offense to back up the pitching. And when Ben Sheets gets healthy they will be even better. They have the best bullpen in the NL, and second best bullpen overall in the majors.

Carlos Lee, Lyle Overbay, Ben Sheets, and Brady Clark are all potential All-Stars, they only thing that would keep them off the ballot would be that they are on a small market team, but the numbers dont lie.
