Exactly my point. I hate Chelsea more than a black man hates being called a Nigger. I would have rather Man Utd got as far as they did, and that's saying something!

I'm pleased that Liverpool won - makes Michael Owen look pretty stupid for a start and even better it is nice to see that those Chelski chavs can only buy the League title and some worthless cup

If you win you get qualified automatically, so that won't happen. But I just can't figure out what makes liverpool so special it get this far.

Comes down to a FA decision if they don't make fourth place in the premier league and they win the champions league (which they shouldn't do :shuffle: ).

That gif is not fluid enough to judge, but I guess its close enough. There are still people doubting them, but they have beaten Juventus and now Chelsea. Why should we doubt them anymore? They have as much of a chance to win in a 1 game series against Milan. Milan haven't yet qualified, but barring a miraculous win by PSV at home, Milan will surely be in the finals. Hoping for a good final, I'll be rooting for Liverpool.

Was it a goal????

WHO FUCKIN CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He had to give the goal bcoz otherwise he would have had to send off Petre Cech in the Chelsea goal for taking Baros out and awarded a penalty which would have ruined the game only 3 minutes in and he didnt want to do that so he took the easy way out and gave the goal.

WE'RE THE GREATEST TEAM IN EUROPE AND WE'RE GOIN TO ISTANBUL..... ISTANBUL, ISTANBUL!!! WE'RE THE GREATEST TEAM IN EUROPE AND WE'RE GOING TO ISTANBUL!!!!

My throat is still killing, I can hardly speak today, the atmosphere was imense lastnight, I have never heard anything like it, I thought it was loud against Olympiakos but my ears are still whistling, I feel like I have been to a rock concert not a football match.
It was like a carnival on the Kop lastnight, I almost died when the final whistle sounded bcoz a guy twice my size from the row behind me grabbed me in a bear hug and fell forward almost crushing me.
We stayed on the Kop for about 20 minutes singing after the final whistle it was incredible.

Anyone who says we dont deserve to be there in the final needs a good kick to the throat, alot of people didnt fancy us to get out of the group but we did; not many people fancied our chances against Bayer Leverkusen but we hammered them twice, nobody gave us a prayer against Juventus (who are only second in serie A on goal difference behind Milan), nobody gave us a chance last night against the best in England...... But it will be us painting Istanbul red on the 25th of May.

I have just handed my holiday request form.... Sorry, holiday DEMAND form in at work this morning and now I have to get my flight booked so watch this space for an Istanbul pictures thread by yours truely in little over 3 weeks.

COME ON RED MEN!!!!!

I was rooting for Chelsea and I think the better team lost. I have yet to see a sideline view of the alleged goal. Although I will be supporting Liverpool in the final. I hate Italian teams.

-Benitez, unload Baros already-f#cking actor, collides with Cech to 'create' the 'goal'; clutches his eye after Terry accidentally swiped his nose, gives the Czech Repub a bad name. Cisse will be 'Pool's striking pulse when fully fit.

-Dudek's save from Lampard's corker of a free kick was well worthy. I thought that was going in.

-Gudjohnsen was total MOKSIE playing through a boxer's gash over the eye. I thought he also had the equaliser in the dying minutes.

Yeah, Chelsea are the better team...easily. But Chelsea were nothing before Roman came along with his Billions. So it was the money that made chelsea who they are this season. I definately think Liverpool deserved the win more, even though they arn't the best team to represent England in the Champs.

Henkie

There's more to Chelsea than money, they've been spending a lot the last two years, but it's all investments, you have to see this over a longer period of time. Over the last 5 years Chelsea hasn't been the biggest spending club in England and even if you take Roman's first five years I don't think they'll be the biggest spending club. Anyway, money isn't everything, look at clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United and Internazionale. They've been buying players like madmen, but aren't winning half of what Chelsea is winning.

jcthompson76
05-04-2005, 02:30 PM
Chelsea have bought shrewdly unlike Madrid, Man Utd, Inter. They've also unloaded wisely under Mourinho (Veron-waste of space, Mutu Devil's Dandruff, Jimmy 'past his prime' Hasselbaink). I think Drogba was the only rather unwise buy and that was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction buy, especially for 24mill. He's only provided a bunch of luck goals and more offsides than the whole squad combined.

If Chelsea swoop Eto'o (a possibility from recent reports) then a Blues quadruple is set.

That match was...interesting :p
IMO, that was not a goal, i support United, but wanted Chelsea to lose big-time, so it really doesn't matter. Anyway, if that was not a goal, it would have been a penalty and the keeper getting sent off

I had money riding on this, and i won so im real happy :)
And as for the shopping Chelsea have done, i've got to say, although it was worth it in the sense they are a much better team, it is a shame that they will only walk away with 2 cups :thud:
Good game.

They just showed on TV a computer-animation of the goal and it wasn't in, so Liverpool got lucky, I guess.

But talking about luck, did anybody see PSV-AC Milan? PSV was way better and won 3-1 which wasn't enough after the 2-0 in Milan. Milan got so lucky there.

JerkyMyTurky
05-04-2005, 06:45 PM
Milan got 90+ minute goals in both games and they needed both of them to make it to the finals. If neither of those go in, they either don't make it or have to play extra time to quality. PSV put a good fight, but allowing those last minute goals killed them.

Didn't Sky Sports have a set-up to prove if the ball had crossed the line in instances such as this a few seasons ago?

Basically, I think it analysed the speed of the ball, coupled with the reaction time of the defenders or something like that. It then spun the camera angle around in 3D to show where the ball would have been when contact was made by the defender to clear it.

I remember they showed that the ball had crossed the line in the Everton/Bolton relegation decider - a disallowed goal which would have kept Bolton in the Premiership.

Anyways, its all history now so theres nothing that can be done about it except bitching.

And besides, as a West Ham fan I dont really give a shit about the Champions League!

Henkie
05-05-2005, 08:21 AM
These kind of computer-animations are really simple, because you can see on camera-footage what is moving where and how, you just don't have footage in the right angle, but if you know what is where at which moment that is pretty easy to reconstruct. But indeed, it's all to late now and maybe it's good to have these dubious moments, so even if you lose you have something to bitch and moan about and you don't have to face the fact that maybe the losing team just wasn't good enough to win.

Lucky!!!???? How can you say that, we are in the final bcoz we deserve to be....
Despite the astronomical amount of injuries we have had this season and the fact that we are a club in transition with half a new playing staff and new managment and backroom staff who are new to the Premiership we are in the final of the CL and we arent there bcoz we have had the luck of the draw and played shit teams, we started off in a group with last years finalists Monaco, then when we qualified from the group we had Leverkusen, yea I know they arent as good as they were 3 or 4 years ago but playing any Kraut side is difficult especialy in Germany bcoz they are master tactitions, then we had the little matter of Juventus who as I have said are only second in Italy behind Milan on goal difference but we saw them off, then Chelski the best team in England and we saw them off too. Now we have to play AC Milan in the final.
This competition couldnt have been any harder for us but we are in the final and I dont wanna hear someone spouting shit about us being lucky.
The ball probably didnt cross the line but if the goal wasnt given it WOULD HAVE BEEN A PENALTY AND A SENDING OFF which would have ruined the game.

Henkie
05-05-2005, 10:07 AM
The goal wasn't in, if it wasn't counted as a goal you might have gotten a penalty (maybe) and a yellow card if lucky. You'ld actually have to score the penalty which might've been harder than you think. The goal wasn't allowed because the Ref thought if he didn't it'ld ruin the game, but because the 2nd ref (how do you call them in English? In Dutch it's line-referee) was convinced it had been in the goal.

Also your amazing opponents weren't that good. Both Leverkusen and Monaco aren't as good as they have been (for example, last year Monaco won 4-1 against PSV, this season PSV won 2-0 and it could've been bigger), compare that to Chelsea who took out the German champion (Bayern München) and the Spanish champion to be (Barcelona) that's quite a difference.

I do have to give Liverpool credit for the first match against Juventus which was good, very good for a team like Liverpool. But the second match, you didn't lose because Juventus never actually put up a fight.

Against Chelsea Liverpool hardly had any decent attacks and over two matches you basically had one good chance, which you didn't score, but it did get counted.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Liverpool is a bad team. I'm just saying they aren't the best Europe has to offer and you don't deserve to be in the final, just like Ac Milan doesn't deserve it, and like Greece didn't deserve to win the EC 2004. Liverpool got lucky and you can be happy about it, but don't get cocky.

James Bond 007
05-05-2005, 10:20 AM
FUCK YOU!!!!!

We totaly deserve to be in the final.... You say we didnt create any chances against Chelski? How many chances did they have against us? That Lampard one in the first leg and the Lampard free kick in the second leg which Dudek saved that was about it!

Juventus, we mopped the floor with them at Anfield and in the second leg we defended like heroes and didnt give them an inch, whenever they got the ball they were closed down and lost possession, we got in their face and they didnt like it, yeah we defended more than goin for a killer goal but for christ sake we were playing Juventus in the Del Alpi, Im sure we can be forgiven for that. Loads of people have said Juventus played badly but you arent giving Liverpool the credit they deserve for going there and making them play badly by not letting them get into their passing game and haveing too much time on the ball.

As much as I respect your opinions you have no grounds to say Liverpool dont deserve to be in the final, we have been excellent in the champs league this season against all odds and Carragher, Gerrard, Hyypia and Garcia have been phenominal.

We are in the final and we deserve to be!

AC Milan will be a very tough test and I dont think anyone thinks we will win, even I think Milan will win but never say never, we always rise to the big occassions and in a one off game we can beat anybody.

Oh and in England they are called Linesmen.

Henkie

You go dream on in that pretty pink cloud of yours. But anyone who isn't a hardcore Liverpudlian will tell you that Liverpool has had more than their fair share of luck this season. And again, I'm not saying they're a bad team, just that they got lucky a couple of times.

James Bond 007
05-06-2005, 12:07 PM
I realy dont know what you are talking about....
How can you say we are lucky? We have been the most unlucky team in England this year with the unbelievable amount of injuries we have had to contend with, we have one of the smallest squads in the league and just about everyone of them has been injured at some point or another.
Nobody has had to contend with an injury list we have had all the way through the season, we have the strongest team now than we have had all season but what good is that, there is only 2 games left.

OK the ball didnt cross the line against Chelski but things like that happen in football all the time, its part of the game and besides if it wasnt a goal then it would have been a penalty and a possible sending off for Cech.
Chelski only had 2 or 3 proper chances over the two legs so its not like they were unlucky and totaly outplayed us..... They are a great side, a better side than Liverpool but they havent outclassed us once this season.

If I was Mourinhio I would get rid of that stupid waste of space Drogba and get someone like Christian Vieri, some big guy to aim crosses at.

Henkie me and you are never gonna agree on this so lets call a truce and stop wasting space on the message boards, you think we are lucky and dont deserve to be in the final, I think we have been brilliant against all odds and totaly deserve to be in Istanbul.

END OF!!!

Last 5 years spending.....
Arsenal = £62
Liverpool = £79m
Man Utd = £160m
Chelsea = £236m

Anyway, money isn't everything, look at clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United and Internazionale. They've been buying players like madmen, but aren't winning half of what Chelsea is winning.

Winning half of what Chelsea are winning ? .. what ? .... One Premiership and a Carling cup.

Money is everything in football. Chelsea were 72m in debt in 2002 and if the Russian never came into the club ... Chelsea would be rock bottom with there top players probably at Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle.

Back on topic.
Liverpool held off on both legs and yes they deserve it, goal or no goal and yes it wasnt a goal. Dont know why everyone is fussing though, away from home against Milan ... they aint getting nothing.

Jamesbond, when you admit Roy Carrol did save the infamous non-goal against Spurs, I will admit it was a goal against Chelsea. :D

James Bond 007
05-09-2005, 02:30 AM
He did save it. Ok the ball was technicaly about 3 yards over the line but Caroll scooped it out and tried to disguise with his body language that the ball didnt cross the line, which he did well enough to fool the officials.
I say well done, if Dudek did the same thing for us it would go along way to restoring Liverpudlians trust in him.
Theres cheating and then theres being a bit dishonest, Carrol saved United the point and himself the embarrassment of being beat from 50 yards.

I say if you get away with it then who cares what anyone else says or thinks, were you as a United fan hurt by any press reports or people in the pub saying the ball crossed the line? No.
Do you think Im too bothered that Garcia's attempt didnt cross the line and that we are in the final of the champions league?

I hope we dont get video replays in football bcoz with all the French players in the Premiership who go down holding their face every 5 minutes I think the game is stop start enough, besides what would we debate in the pub with our mates?

I would also like to congradulate Everton on getting 4th spot in the Premiership..... Bastards!...... I just hope you get beat trying to qualify for it by some random Swiss or Israeli team.

For some reason I can't understand how a team that must be atleast the second best in Europe (or how could it qualify for the CL-final? Luck?) can't beat Arsenal, or become fifth in the competition? They seem to lose quite a lot, these days.

It is a mystery Henkie and a very frustrating one for Liverpool fans, in European competition we look a very good team but in the Premiership we strike as much fear into people as West brom.

I think the main reason for this is the fast pace of the Premiership compared to the slower pace of the Champions League.
Players like Garcia, Cisse and Alonso look great in the CL but in the Premiership they arent half as good, it will take them time to adapt to the Premiership (dont forget Henry didnt have the best of seasons when he first came to England) but when they do settle in I think we are gonna be a great team.
Benitez seems to know what hes doin and has become an instant hero at Anfield, he has won the players and the fans over which is vital if hes to be successful.
