Emeka Okafor

Emeka Okafor was named the rookie of the year today. I think he was the obvious choice for this award since he was the most consistent during the year. Dwight Howard did not play that well in the early season, but played well near the end. Ben Gordon would be on and off, sometimes playing well other times not so well. Okafor is also defintely the best defender out of all the rookies too.

What do you guys think? Should he have won?

It was pretty obvious that Gordon was gonna get either ROTY or 6th man. He was definitely the 6th man, but you're right: Okafor was more consistent which is why he got it.

If you put Dwight Howard in Charlotte with the same role as Okafor, he would have better numbers. Howard was the 3rd option on the Magic, sometimes the 4th when Mobley was there. I think Howard is a better player, but he wasn't on a bad team like Okafor was, so he didn't have to be the main man. Since the award goes to the best performing rookie, Okafor getting the award is not surprising.

Im suprised Gordon didnt win, seeing as how his team is a contender in the playoffs and he's the best person on the team.
