My goodness. I've never had music affect as much as The Postal Service's music has. Its beautiful! Simple lyrics, yes, but beautiful and peaceful lyrics full of hope and tranquillity. I love driving to it. Anyone else agree? Dont flame me if you dont like it, its just my opinion.

If you want bliss a-la shrooms, check out some of Ravi Shankar's mantras or anything by Arvo Part or Bela Fleck.

Check out M83 and Boards of Canada... those are quite relaxing. Also, Lama Gyurme is pretty interesting and very relaxing.

Sigur Ros is fucking amazing stuff, I just wish I knew what the hell he was saying. oh well.

The Kings of Convenience play music that's much more relaxing and very chill. Their brand is much more mellow but the lyrics are just as cool.

Mogwai and Kings Of Convenience are better for putting you to sleep (in a good way). Postal Service are more an electronic version of Death Cab For Cutie (same singer). It's a good combination... i didn't really like 'give up' at first but after about 5 listens i.... i.... fell in love.. :p

IMO, you can't have truly relaxing music without female vocals.

Listen to Eisley

"Room Noises is a perfect CD to slow dance to in the middle of nowhere. Or if you can drive, this is good night-time driving music" - Amazon Reviewer

Listen to The Gathering (And don't waste your time with their first two albums from 93 and 94 - different, and very much worse singers)

"an incredible singer capable of stretching miles of emotion out of each and every syllable."

"(the vocals) are the stuff of dreams"

"This album takes metal to a beautiful new place."

"Highest possible recommendation."

I will point out that the reason I like the Postal Service is because their music sounds like Nintendo. New electronica sound, but it makes me nostalgic.
