View Full Version : Aaron's Record

Henry Aaron has an almost seemingly insurmountable career home run record of 755, assuming Bonds is now out of the question. Seeing Manny Ramirez hit his 400th made me think, could this 32 year old have a shot? 10 more years averaging 35 a year would get him there. Three years ago, I would've said Griffey will have a great shot at breaking the record, but things there have changed too.

Who do you think has the best shot at breaking Hank's record?

Alex Rodriguez has the best shot. He's only 29 and has 393 homers. He's got 3 years on Manny. Just as long as Bonds doesn't get it, I'm happy. I don't think Bonds will get it.

Barry is done. He won't play this year. Next year he'll hit 25 and then retire. Just like McGwire. A-Rod is not a bad choice though. Looking pretty far ahead into the future, Albert Pujols has the best chance. The guy's 25, and averaged 40 home runs in his first 4 years in the bigs. 15 more years at that pace, the record is his.

Id love to see Pujols get the record. There isnt a classier player with that much talent in the MLB, which makes him one of my favorites.

I would much rather see Hammerin' Hank keep the record for eternity, after all he was a Milwaukee Brave :D But I really would be happy for Pujols if he did break the record.

Pujols, unless he's 3 years older than they say he is...

i seriously think that bonds would play until the day he breaks it and then retires the next day, ala mr. 3000

Even if Bonds does break it, his record will always have the asterisk because he takes steroids.

I gurantee he will not break it. When he comes back next year, it will have been more than a year since he's been able to take the juice so he won't know what to do with himself.

If Barry does come back healthy he has the best shot! NO doubt!

I hope he falls short as well, but lets face it he could play 2 years and get it. If he hits 25 each year or something, people will still stay he can play a bit. Depends how much the guy wants it. Roids or not, fool always could hit the ball!

Those other guys mentioned probably won't do it. All it takes is one injury or a decline as the guy ages. Still talking a lot a years!!! Hitting a baseball consistently (especially HRs) is still one of the toughest things to do in sports!

A-Rod.!!....300+ away!!..... think not and you know 13# strikes out a lot. Don't think Aaron ever struck out 100 times in a season!

Look at what happened to Giambi and Piazza, they are hitting around .200 without the steroids. Their bodies are shot, samething happened to McGuire and samething is going to happen to Bonds. I think Arod has the only legitimate shot at the record. With all the steroids testings and regulations on enhancers, I don't see those monster home run seasons anymore. Pujols is a good choice, but its too early to see what happens with his numbers down the road.

Who actually wants to see Bonds break it? Is anyone gunna root for him to do it? Why would you? I don't want to see it happen, does anyone?

Um no he doesn't deserve jack shit except a swift kick in the balls for being a cheater. How could he deserve it? If we went back 4 years ago and busted him for steroids then his name wouldn't even be anywhere near this conversation. Manny has a good shot if he plays in Boston the rest of his career, it's so easy for a righty to hit a homerun there. A-Rod I think will be the one who breaks the record though, even though he'll never win a World Series. Pujols, he's been in the league what, 4 years now? We haven't seen him go 10 years of 35+ homers yet so lets hold off on him for now.

If Babe Ruth was juiced up as Barry Bonds he would of hit 100 homeruns and smoked 1000 cuban cigars and fucked 1000 bitches at the same time.

Babe Ruth was the man.

As good as A-Rod is I think you guys are giving him a whole lot of credit.
He has a long way to go as does Pujols.

Injuries catch up with a lot of good HR hitters and A-Rod is still a few hundred dingers away. Will he stay with NY forever, maybe not. Different parks make an impact, so far it has not phased A-Rod. You also need a good lineup around you in many cases. Also will #13 have the same hunger in 7-8 years that he does now???

A lot a factors! Doubt it!
