View Full Version : Liverpool V AC Milan - Champions League Final
For those Non-Americans out there (there are other countries) who do you think will win the upcoming Champions League final match between my team Liverpool and the dirty Italians - AC Milan
I did not see this final coming... Liverpool have been terrible in the English Premiership all season but are potentially on the verge of winning their 5th European Cup :D

I'm voting for Liverpool 2-1. Goals by Gerrard and Cisse.

AC Milan doesn't play nice and need to get beaten by the club with the passion. Liverpool came in the final and if they play well, they can beat them.
It looks like Liverpool is the big brother of my own club, play with a lot of devotion and with a great support. In Holland we compare Liverpool with Feyenoord and for example Chelsea with PSV.
i seem to have supported Liverpool ever since they stopped winning championships and cups... maybe this is finally their time. they've already come so far and even if they arn't allowed into the champs league next season no one will be able to take away the fact the won it (if they do  )

The Stam, Nesta, Maldini and Cafu line is just going to be too strong for Liverpool in my opinion. Midfielders Kaka, Pirlo, Gattuso and Seedorf/Kaladze are all playmakers on top form and the strikers Schevchenko and Crespo are the worlds best.
Can't go against Milan right now.

Guess who I picked? lol.
Anyway I think we will do ok and if we can use Cisse's pace against the slow, ageing defenders of Milan I think we could do even better.
Also take into account that our season finished nearly 2 weeks ago when we got beat off Arsenal and Milan are still in a title fight with Juventus, infact they play what could be a very important championship decider against Palermo just days before they have to fly to Turkey for the final of the champions league.
Liverpool are big underdogs for the game which will go in our favor bcoz when we are up against it we raise our game to a whole new level.
Win, loose or draw, whatever happens out in Istanbul a week tomorrow we will have done ourselves proud and as I have said in other threads nobody expected us to get this far so there will be no shame in being beat by arguably the best team in the world in the final.

The defensive line exists of only big names, but they aren't that good. They're all old and slow, if you have some players that are fast and agile, you can score. They do have a strong midfield (isn't Kaladze a defender, btw?). And the problem with Shevchenko is that he isn't that good untill he suddenly scores, just like Crespo (who's getting old, aswell)

I thought Kaladze was a defensive midfielder.
Anyway I echo your opinions of Milan having a slow defense, I also think Crespo isnt anything special but Schevchenko is the one we need to worry about, if we can stop him or atleast slow him down we have a good chance of causing an upset

I want Liverpool to win it. It'll be pretty funny if they do, and they're playing in the Uefa Cup next year

Well, Nesta isn't old. Cafu is DEFINITELY not slow. Kaladze has took Seedorfs position this season many times thats why I predicted its one of them for the line up. Schevchenko always seems to play a strong striking role in big matches. We'll see.
Old isn't an excuse, When Maldini is there I predict around a 15% enhancement on the spirit of the team and how he organises his side is crucial.
I agree on Crespo, but hey at least he's much better than Pippo, we don't want Pippo anymore, he scores 1 in 20 Serie A matches.

We all know AC Milan has more quality, but they should not underrate Liverpool. (Personly i hope they do) The teamspirit can be the difference in this match.

Everything I've read indicates this match will be a defensive stand-off (please not another Chelsea-Liverpool first leg repeat) as Milan has slumped in form lately and defense is Liverpool's saving grace.
The fact that Benitez is refusing to have his squad take penalty kick practice is mind boggling.
It'll probably be very boring for neutrals to watch. If Liverpool are to stand a chance they'll have to be on top defensive form and just get a lucky break like against Chelsea.
Either that or Milan will get one and kill the game off with another.

Fingers crossed for Liverpool, it's just about to start. They need to take the game to milan and push hard early 1st half, hope to get one up and then defend defend defend. Milan certainly have the up on quality and have been playing well recently but i think it could be the scouser's night, especially with all the fans on top form.

It's really tense now.. Jerzy Dudek just made a crucial save from point-blank range.
Looks like penalties. Yep, after 120 minutes, 3-3, penalties now. It'll be so cruel if Liverpool lose. The same can be said about Milan I guess.

I was certain there was no way back for you at half-time, but, your boys proved me and everybody else wrong. Great Performance by Dudek - especially the Grobellar 'wobbly legs' routine!
I look forward to entertaining the European champions at Upton Park next season (provided we beat Preston :D ).
well done!

Certainly one of the finest cup finals in the history of the game. All they need now is for the UEFA to pull their heads out of their arse's and let them play in the championship and defend their title. I would like to see the other english clubs (i.e: man U, chelsea etc) who are in the championship to back a u-turn on the 4 club rule due to the circumstances and in the interest of the game for fans/clubs etc etc etc etc.

Nah, which team then should be kicked out of the competition? Nah, the only sollution is for the FA to give Liverpool Everton's ticket, like they did in Spain in 2000.

Hey guys Im back, I just got in 30 minutes ago and despite not seeming so upbeat I am absolutley over the fricken moon! :D
My brother said to me when I walked in "Whats up?" and I said what are you talkin about he said "I expected you to be jumping around and being all lively"
But as I told him I will tell you now, traveling around 3500 miles in 30 hours with no food just beer and an hours sleep on the plane aswell as screaming until I literaly lost my voice (well not lost, its still there but I sound like Marlon Brando in the Godfather) its understandable I dont have the energy for cartwheels and summersaults.
Gonna go and have a long soak in the bath in a minute and a bit of a rest bcoz theres a chance Liverpool are gonna parade the trophy round Liverpool city centre tonight and my mate said if they do we are gonna drive up.
Id just like to say aswell, asfar as I know both sets of fans were well behaved and there were only a few scuffles that broke out here and there, there was one guy who looked like hed called Mike Tyson's mum a slagg, his face was plastered all over his face.
Also alot of us Brits who went over there were expecting trouble bcoz supposedly the Turks hate Englishmen but the Turks were the friendliest people and were so welcoming of us, it was a real eye opener though bcoz Istanbul realy is a third world country, it was made up of shanty towns and delapidated houses.
They made us the fans feel like celebrities, there were thousands of men women and children lining the streets to wave at our convoy of coaches as we went past, they were such cool people, some were even wearin old Liverpool shirts and waving flags and signs they had made.
There was a group of kids who were all about 9 or 10 years old sat at the side of the motorway with a big banner they had made "FUCK YOU MILAN!", everyone on the coach was screaming laughing.
Anyway thanx for the support from some of you and as promised there will be a pictures thread in the .....er.... Pictures thread bit of this amazing night in Istanbul.
PS if you are ever in Turkey especialy Istanbul watch the roads bcoz they drive like loonatics, our bus almost crashed about 3 times and people were getting that impatient with the traffic jams leading to the Ataturk stadium that they risked theirs and everyone else's lives who was on the motorway by driving the wrong way up the otherside of the motorway to save time :insane:

You better bring it round tonight or else there's gonna be trouble.

Well, Turks are very friendly people, unless they've just lost a match ;)
But anyway, I feel so stupid, I forgot the match was that night and when someone told me (about the time the 2nd half was supposed to start) I thought "to hell with it, it'll be a boring match anyway" so I didn't get home to watch it until the last couple of minutes before the penalties.
By the way, a lot of players playing in that match have a history in Holland, which makes me proud. (Dudek, Hyypia, Tommasson, Seedorf and Stam)

I was at work last night and the big screen is round the corner so I didnt really see it, though it hasnt been off the tv today.
Liverpool deserved it.
A scouse who comes in the pub sits in the small lounge area (which isnt used through the week) by himself and watches the matches. He says he's got to have 2 pints each half and no more and Liverpool win. He has sat in there since Juve. He missed the first half but turned up at half time and away he went with his pint into the lounge and he later had his second ..... Freaked the fuck out of me because I thought not even god can save liverpool now and what do'ya' know .... haha, I still laugh when I see his face.
On the subject of defending their crown, sorry but I say no. Its unfair on whoever is taking out of the competition. There's no way it will be Everton, Liverpool will be like Iraq if that happens and I dont think its fair to take that opportunity (and money, lots of money) from a small unknown team just because they arent well known.
Liverpool did great and even I'm happy for them but they should have to wait. They knew at the beginning of the season it was top-4 for champs league football.
James Bond 007
05-26-2005, 02:06 PM
Well I dont know what they will do but they have no choice realy, there would be so many important people in football who would out raged if we werent allowed to defend our crown.... How could it be called the Champions League if the champions of Europe werent allowed entry to it???
It will be an absolute farce if the best team in Europe (like it or not that is our label now) isnt in it.
Im sure there will be a way to sort it out so Everton arent stripped of their deserved place in the competition.
Oh and my Liverpool vs Milan pictures thread is up, I expect you all to go and have a look. :)

I work with an Italian guy and he is a die hard Milan fan. He talks to me about their games every week, he is going to be yapping and yapping about this loss to me all day tomorrow. I'm glad Liverpool won and in the fashion they won. One of the most, if not the most exciting Champion's League finals match ever. Great pictures by the way.

Right....
By the way, I heard the Welsh Champion has offered it's ticket to the first round of the CL as the prize to a play-off between them and Liverpool. It'ld be a nice sollution, because the Welsh team would sell a lot of tickets instead of trying to reach the CL which won't happen and Liverpool can play in the CL, the only question is whether the Uefa is going to let that happen.
MrDeliquent85

By the way, I heard the Welsh Champion has offered it's ticket to the first round of the CL as the prize to a play-off between them and Liverpool.
Yeah, I heard that too. Its the perfect sollution. They will probably go out straight away after gaining a small of of money from the gates but if the play two legs against Liverpool then they will fill Cardiff and Anfield gaining much more. Of course Liverpool will then be through to the next round.
Very nice of them. Liverpool should give them all the money from the gates at Anfield as a thank you.
