Go to Hotmail and go to "Lost Password". It will send it to the address you provided when you signed up.

Download this (http://desktop.google.com/?promo=mp-gds-v1-1) and search for whatever you can remember from your password, or by the date of when you saved the file that contained it. It makes searching your computer a lot faster.

Do you mean that the search program doesn't work, or that you can't find the password you're looking for? You have to give the program an hour or two of time when your computer is not being used to archive everything on it. That's how it works- it gathers the info on your computer in some file in order to be able to search faster than the default Windows search from My Computer. Once it's done archiving (the icon saying so will disappear from the part of your screen next to the clock), search for as many variants or bits of your password that you can remember.

Or, maybe you accidentally deleted the file, in which case none of this will work.

I dunno if you can retrieve it. You'd probably have to contact MSN unless someone in here is good at hacking into the registry. All i could come up with in the registry was a popmail password in Binary (which wasn't the same size as my real password for hotmail) and my password for windows log on. I dont think your computer stores the password for reasons of when you are browsing the internet it could be stolen by an active x control or something as such that installs cookies
