You ask them "does that door lead to heaven"

you completely mangled the riddle:

"two doors, one to heavon one to hell. there is a man guarding each door, one will ALWAYS lie, the other always tell the truth. you dont know which door is which, and which guys is which. you may only ask ONE question... what do you ask? (your trying to get to heaven, btw.)"

the answer: go up to one guy and ask "would the other guy say this door goes to heaven?" if yes, and the man you asked tells the truth, then the other one is lying, meaning it is the wrong door. if the man you asked lies, then the truthteller said no... if the guy u asked said no, and he was the truth teller, then the other guy who lied said no. if its the liar, then the other truth teller said yes. so basically, if the answer is yes, then the door is to hell, if no it goes to heaven.

Ask one guard if this door leads to heaven and if he says yes then thats the door to hell, so then just go to the opposite one.

GUESS :help:

No because then if he was telling the truth then it would be the door to heaven

No no no...

You ask one of them "Which door would the other say leads to heaven?"

If you've asked the liar, he will lie about the truth.

If you've asked the truthful guy, he will tell you the truch, which would be a lie.

So you would take the opposite door to what they say.

Hope that makes sense. I've seen people try to explain this riddle before and confuse the hell out of people.

If you think outside thee box, this is how it could go:

Q#1: How many doors are there? (If he lies, there you go.)

Q#2: Ask the truthful person where heaven is.

A bit messed up, but the riddle say one guard ALWAYS lies and one ALWAYS tells the truth.

The real way, is too complicated for me to post.

this sounds like an old riddle i know...

your driving a cab and you come to a fork in the road, you want to go north but you dont know which way is north or south.there are two brothers standing by the road, the know the way,but one of them always lies and the other always tells the truth, you can only ask one question to only one of the brothers, what question would you ask?

answer>you would ask one of them "what would your brother say that road is?"and then you would take the other road...why?simple,because if he is the liar he will lie and tell you the wrong answer(hense you take the other way),and if you ask the truthfull one he will tell you the wrong answer also because that is what the liar would say(leading you to also take the oppisite way of the answer)

In the original one Posted, it is 2 Questions but only YES or NO Answers. In the repost, it is only 1 Question but any type.

For #1: Are there 2 Doors? and Does this Door Lead to Heaven?

For #2: I need to think a bit more.

I haven't read anything but this first post, and the question you ask one guard is "Would the other guard say that this door leads to Heaven?"

And then pick the other door...Only 1 question needed

You can only ask ONE question.

Otherwise you could just ask any old question first to find out which one lies.

This is the correct answer. I did try to explain this a few posts ago, but maybe I didn't explain it properly. Everyone's still arguing...

I prefer the 2 question method.Ask one a simple question (how many doors are there, how many eyes do I have,is my foot on fire...) and if he answers in correctly (3 doors,15 eyes, yes) then he is the liar,he if answers truthfully (2 doors,2 eyes,it will be) then he tells the truth.Ask the truth teller which door leads to heaven, and viola! riddle solved.

It's only supposed to be one question, that's why this shouldn't work. If it was two questions then it would.

The person who started this thread got the riddle wrong, only ONE question

Ummmm... Do you think riddles are actually that simple? If it was really that way, then it wouldn't be a riddle. Everybody would know the answer!!! Uhhhh.... duh....

Here's a better way of explaining the way where you can only ask 1 question to one person:

Lets say that the real way is the right door. You would ask the question "If I asked the other person which door is the Door to Heaven, What would he say?" If ur talking the truthy, then he would say the left, since he knew that he would tell a lie. If ur talking to the lie-y, then he would say left too, since thats the incorrect answer. Either way, you get left, so just pick right. Hop that helps

ummm...which way to where you are from...if i read the riddle correctly (i didnt read the riddle) the guard that lies will direct you the wrong way. the guy that doesnt will lead you the right way....ah ha...

the correct answer is what was said before. You have to ask the other person "which way to heaven would he say" but since its a yes or no answer

lets have a look :-

YOU:would he say this door leads to heaven?
Liar: No
YOU:would he say this door leads to heaven?
Truth: No

Pointing at the same door

if you asked:-

YOU:which way would he say leads to heaven
Liar: Right door
YOU:would he say this door leads to heaven?
Truth: Right door

If heavens door was on the left side

so either way its the right way to ask

the truth teller is saying that he wouldnt ell you
and the liar is saying a lie

or

Stand
------- Answer = I Understand
I

All this confusion is because the original riddle was written incorrectly. The real riddle, which is older than the internet itself, you may only ask one question.
