Got to admit, this shit's pretty funny. I wonder if it will generate the storm of controversy that Newsweek's article alledgedly did:

This must be a media tug-of-war to see what source can get Muslims more and more pissed off at us Americans. So this is apparently Sun's answer to Newsweek...
The media will have blood on their hands soon, with their "newsworthy" articles and photos. All these reports will incite the Islamic extremists to kill us and our soldiers that much more.

How about we just censor the news and/ or shut them down?
I mean, we should only be hearing news that makes the United States look good. You know, we're already living in the dark, it's not gonna hurt to make it even darker.

I thought it was bullshit they allowed pictures of his capture or especially the videotape of him being examined get out.
Especially after DEMANDING Iraq stop releasing tapes of those US soldiers captured early on in the war.
This seems to be a case of someone leaking pictures.
They are not acting on behalf of the US and its actually AGAINST US Policy and rules etc.
Saddam is one of the sickest, bloodthirsty murderers alive today but I think it sucks when we lower ourselves to their standards.
Not cool.
Where are the nudes at? I want to know if the drapes match the carpet. ;)
They're in the premium section. And man, talk about hung like a camel...
I bet he spits like one too.

Now Saddam has come out and said he is going to sue over these photos. I wonder if he thinks it will keep him from being executed.

Yeah dude, wtf...what good does he think that will do? It's not like he can buy his way out of prison (or wherever he is) or anything.

It is to raise awareness of what happened and make a stink about it in an attempt to further degrade the world's views of the U.S. and probably to get charges brought up for violations of prisoner treatment.

The U.S. gov't is upset the photos got leaked, but my question is why are there pictures of Saddam dressing in his briefs in the first place? :insane:

I know this idiot at UK who can blame anything on Bush.
She could be talking about how her brother burned her barbie dolls back when she was a kid, and blame it on Bush.
Jn_powell, there's a lot of idiots like that out there.

Who would be taking pictures of him dressing and undressing anyways? I think whoever took the photos did it for the money. Probably got alot too but too bad they will get punished for it.

That's low? What he used to do to people of his country was low. Hussein walking around in his underwear ain't nothing.
I didn't know Saddam was in Big Brother this year? ;)
No, seriously - that's sucks.

I'm tired of people shrugging off crap like this because he did stuff that was "way worse". He did, and I hope he dies. But we don't have to lower ourselves to this sort of stuff. It gives further ammo to terrorists, and trivializes what we are trying to do there.

Holy shit, a camera took a picture of him in his underpants. Damn?? Did anyone die? Did anybody choke to death of chemical weapons?? Was he humilitated on purpose by the American people? No, he wasn't.

All that is irrelevant. Extremists will use it as 'proof' that Americans seek to degrade their opponents, are evil, etc. The war against terror is also a war against a mindset and ideology.

He killed 5,000 with a single chemical weapon attack... I'm looking for a website dedicated to those killed, I'll post it when I find it.
||EDIT||
RIP those who suffered the worst kind of death (http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/rls/18714.htm)

So taking a picture of him in his underwear is his punishment for killing 5000 people?
You're missing the point. No one is saying that poor innocent Saddam is suffering because he was photographed in his tighty whities. But after all of the scandals and the amount of hostility toward us in the Arab world already, this is inexcusable. It's the same with Abu Grahib. No one was seriously hurt, so what's the big deal? I'll tell you: showing a man naked or in his underwear is considered an unspeakable humiliation in the Islamic world. Every time something like that happens it creates more hostility toward us, more enemies willing to fight against us, and makes the mission more difficult. Was photographing Saddam in his undies necessary for the success of our mission? I doubt it. Nothing good could have come of it, so it shouldn't have been done.

Droog, I understand you completely, I really do, but the amount of airtime for this shit is rediculous. Why don't news stations focus on the real news, like how the future looks for Iraq, or how the Ebola outbreak in the Congo is progressing, or the Marburg outbreak in Angola, things that really matter, not if he was fuckin humiliated.

I thought I read somewhere Sadaam Hussein was mentally insane. Though why go humiliate him? What good will come? Even if he was a bad person.

Because Saddam has drawing power. No one knows anyone from those other places, but everyone knows Saddam, equates him with Iraq, which they'll all drop whatever they're doing to hear the latest on that stuff.

Lets not forget that these pics first appeared in the Sun, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. Hmmmmm, now what's that other cable news channel that's ultra conservative that they own?
Not to break out the conspiracy theories here but I guess with the war progressing so badly in Iraq, conservative's are willing to do anything in order to fuck up their enemie's moral.

That's exactly it. People don't care about situations they are not familiar to. Look at Rwanda, and how we dealt with that. Look at the situation in Sudan, and people are just turning the other cheek. People honestly don't give a rats ass if they don't have any sort of knowledge of the region where the problem is.

Yes! Here it goes again, the news shows something incredibly insulting to the islamic religion. Wait a few days, and more of their prisoners (our troops) get executed. Congratulations US, you've fucked up again. I can't wait for the storm of people coming in here saying its Bush's fault.
