My mom has these bigass speakers from her old turntables, and I was wondering if there's any possible way to hook them up to my PC. Are there any kind of adapters for things like this? You'd think there would be... :help:

EDIT: I found a pic of the best interpretation of what kind of speakers I mean...something like these-http://www.commonsenseaudio.com/jbl1977t.jpg

Yeah, just get an audio card that has plug-ins for Dolby Digital 5.1... just search on ebay or something... You can get an audio card for like 30 dollars that'll do the trick. If it is just speaker wire, they have connectors for the ends of the wire (just like a coax), in which will be able to plug into your audio card

you can buy them here (http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/SubCategory.asp?SubCategory=57&CMP=KNC-GoogleAdwords&ATT=Sound+Cards)

I'm assuming that those old speakers have the positive and negative speaker wires. An alternative that I use (especially if you want a really loud system) is I'll use the my computer speaker output with the wire shown below.

Then I'll hook that up to my stereo/receiver input. (example shown here (http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/7016/7016481_ra.jpg) ) Then you can connect your speakers directly to your stereo/reciever and control the volume with it.

I bought Logitech 5.1 speakers, only to be pissed off when I got them home and found that they had 3 input wires. And of course my crappy on board soundcard doesn't have capabilities for 5.1 digital, so, I had to go out and waste another $50.00 CDN, to get a Soundblaster Live! 24-Bit. But, I must say that it's worth the money, as the sound quality has dramatically improved.

Up next, Soundblaser Audigy Platinum 2. Ahhh, I wish, too bad I don't have the $400 to go along with it.
