iPod Question

Have any of you bought the attachment and used your iPod as a digital recorder?

I am looking to buy one of these and I can't tell if the mini has this feature. I see that the regular one does, but I dont know if I want to get the most expensive one, unless I know it is worth it.

Any help, anyone?
