Yea, it definitely is pretty big news. I remember discussing it in my history class last semester and our teacher gave her input on it. She thought it was George H.W. Bush I believe.

I'll believe it when Woodward or Ben Bradley confirm it. Until then, who knows, this guy could be a nut.

My theory was that it was Alexander Haig. He was always a loose cannon, just the type to go for cloak and dagger stuff like that.

Apparently Woodward and Berstein still won't comment, saying they will still protect their source. So either this guy didn't talk to them yet, or he's lying. I really hope this secret doesn't go to the grave with W and B. It really, honestly, doesn't have a lot of bearing on anything, but I hate not knowing something. lol.

Did anyone catch Jeopardy a week or so ago when Woodward was on during the Washington players episode? One of the "answers" was deep throat. So then Alex took the opportunity to ask Woodward infront of everyone who deepthroat was. It was actually kinda funny.

Woodward just confirmed it. Looks like Felt is the man.

edit: Now some are saying Woodward is not telling the truth..the never ending story it seems. :wtf:

I actually just saw that movie about a year ago so this was kind of still a new topic to me but still was very intriguing

This whole thing is about a guy named Mark Felt, a.k.a. Deep Throat. He was almost entirely responsible for bringing down Richard Nixon and members of his administration during the Watergate Scandal. He basically had inside information that he leaked to the press in order to remove them from office.

Felt operated during extraordinary times in the country's history, and in the history of the bureau he had been trained to protect at all costs. Faced with a rogue White House, an explosive investigation and political pressure that must have been excruciating, he decided to spill secrets, anonymously helping to change the course of history through clandestine meetings with Woodward in the middle of the night in underground parking garages.

Nixon and his White House colleagues during this period were engaged in what the House Judiciary Committee would eventually call a series of criminal acts — obstruction of justice, withholding of material evidence, coercion of witnesses, and misuse of the CIA and the Internal Revenue Service.

A secret investigative unit was run from the White House, supported by the CIA and financed by campaign funds to spy on enemies and to break into a doctor's office in a search for confidential files. Twenty-one participants in what came to be known as the Watergate scandal, including the president's counsel, chief domestic adviser, attorney general and campaign finance director, pleaded guilty or were convicted of the crimes documented by the FBI and brought to light — with Felt's help.

That explains it a heck of a lot better than I can. Here's the link to the article for more information.

If the JFK movie is based on facts it offers irrefutable proof that Oswald couldn't have been the shooter.

The Zapruder film establishes a time frame of 5.6 seconds. No more than 3 shots could be fired from a manual bolt action rifle in that time.

Bullet 1: The headshot on Kennedy
Bullet 2: Missed Kennedy, bounced off the pavement, nicked a bystander
Bullet 3: Hits Kennedy and Connally 7 times, and is later found in pristine condition.

Only 3 shots = impossible

Warren Commission: A total whitewash. Either because Johnson (who appointed it) was complicit in the assassination, or because he was terrified that a real investigation might lead back to Russia and war would result.

Lets hear some answers. Problem is that if it was a vast conspiracy, everyone involved has probably died from old age now.

Sure it could be done, and rather easily. The accuracy is what makes me wonder about Oswald acting alone.

Well I actually learned something in school today, so I am going to share some of my knew knowledge.

We were having a big discussion on this in my Journalism class today when someone asked how he got his name. The teacher started talking about how deep throat is a play on the name of a porn movie titled Deep Throat. Because of the popularity of this movie in the 70s they joined the term "deep background", meaning information from a source that cannot be disclosed, and the name of the movie.
I think it means he had a "throaty" deep voice. :D

I've heard it was more than 5.6 seconds, but what I would like to point out is that it is 5.6 seconds AFTER the first shot is fired...so it is really like getting off two shots in that time if you follow me. Also, a bullet "nicking" a bystander is news to me...Also, Kennedy and Connally were hit 7 times???? More news to me...Oswald acted alone, I'm sorry.
