I use *67, then call a calling card and make a prank call..is there any remote possibility of someone calling the police and being able to track me down?

i'm no expert, but i think some calling cards send more info to the other end of the line than others. Try calling another line (eg your mobile phone) using the calling card and see what info it sends with it.
If it doesn't send the number then you should be fine, certainly much better than *67 as that isn't foll proof at all.
If you are really paranoid use caller ID spoofing to really confuse the shit out of people. Alternatively i don't think VoIP are very traceable either so consider those too.
Sounds like you are being careful enough. However, the best thing to do is to avoid doing anything illegal and to call epeople who are scum and know they deserve to be pranked. Then even if you did get traced no one can do anything anyway.

The ANI provides the telephone number for incoming calls. 911 centers look at the ANI, it helps identify the callers address. It can be traced over 800 numbers too.
Any number can be traced when there is a trace on the line. So, don't prank the same person more than once. If you start pranking the same person they'll get pissed, file a police report, and they'll monitor all incoming calls on the residents line. You will get caught and fined. If there is a trace placed on the line the person that issued the trace has signed an agreement to prosecute the guilty party so if they wanted to drop charges they can't.

This is a weird calling card...its a "local" access code with your area code, instead of a 800 toll free type...if they set up this at a house, could they get through this? Once a person said I know your number and gave me a number of the local calling card phone company so I didnt care..is there anything they could do if i called them again?
PS. How much is the fine?

The the call is traced to the calling card company. The calling card company does not like receiving calls from the police. The calling card company is able to route the call back to the caller. Using a calling card IS NOT SAFE. Your call will be traced if you prank someone who is fed up with being pranked.
In the state of PA it's a 3rd degree misdemeanor for prank calls. That's a possible 6months in prison for repeat offendors, you're looking at up to 2g's in fines. Grant it that is the maximum sentence and you'll most likely get a slap on the wrist and pay out 90 bucks in fines.
I know of a case were a guy was pranked, he became enraged from the call, and it set off a heart attack. The victim of the prank nearly died. I wouldn't prank people. I'll just stick to listening to other people with lesser minds pranked calls.

ANI is short for automatic number identification, a service that provides the telephone number of an incoming call. ANI is used for a variety of functions -- by receiving the incoming telephone number, telephone companies can direct a call to the proper long distance carrier's equipment; it can help identify the caller's address to speed response time to 911 calls; and it can route an 800 call to the nearest vendor. ISDN, the standards for transmissions on telephone lines, supports ANI.
and as far as a number being traced...thye don't have to put a trace on the line.its instantaneous and EVERY CALL that is made is logged so your still not perfectly safe if you ANI-F by diverting ......... if they really want to get you.....they will...so the moral of the story is don't prank from your home phone!

really? But all the calls whenever I call someone display a local area code of the phone company. So if they call that they wont get me...and i thought i was paranoid....im already a private caller and using the calling card..i thought this was enough!!
