I just got his best of album and I've always liked the songs that are on there. I just didn't know that he wrote them until I got the album(except for obvious ones like China Girl). It made me realise how kickass he is and how seldomly he gets mentioned. I'm guessing he's classified as pop (but I'm not sure), and it takes a lot for me to like a pop artist/band (I like very few apart from Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams and perhaps a bit of Duran Duran). He strikes me to be a bit different to the average pop artist and I know jackshit about him. He's a bloody awesome singer too. So, anyone like him here? Any opinions on him? Any strange facts?

David Bowie is not a pop artists. I was 15 when Lets Dance came out in 1983. WHile the album is commercial it has plenty of depth and substance. At the time I was like you and did'nt know much about David Bowie. I remember the rock station would play Modern Love and all the hipsters in my church youth group were blasting it. My parents told me about David Bowie and Major Tom. I then found out on my own the greatness of David Bowie through other friends. I heard Ziggy Stardust, Sulfraggette City, and Ashes To Ashes. I eventually bought 3 of his albums. The man is a true legend. You also may like his work with a band in the late 80's-early 90's. I forget their name but the one dude was Soupy Sales's son. They made two albums. The first album was the best. The second one was not so great. It just came to me they were the Tin Machine.

Look at my avatar.... but yeah, I'm a huge fan, I own all his albums. I would recommend checking out the Station to Station album, it's amazing.

Old Bowie mostly with Mick Ronson on guitar. I actually like some of his more obscure songs that should have been monster hits like Moonage Daydream and Panic in Detroit(Pistons are you listening).
