This kills me, these guys dreamed up the idea of getting hockey brawls on ice. Trouble is Canadian law has issues with fighting if its a "prize fight". Now no one takes issue if there is a puck on the ice and a fight ensues but there is no puck. Therefore the issue, it becomes a "prize fight" on ice.. :insane:
Section 83 of the Criminal Code of Canada states it is illegal to take part in "prize fights." For fights to be legal they must follow two criteria: combatants must wear gloves of a certain weight, and the event must be sanctioned by an approved body.

* Question is when will Canada ban the senseless fighting at hockey games ?
There goes the national pastime eh.
* It is a rather novel idea, this whole concept of" lets just fight on the ice".
I see this being bigger (and certainly better) than the WWE.
I really think it could really "Take Off In The Great White North"
Cooo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coooo!

Fighting on skates is harder than fighting on dry land, but to make an exhibition out of it is lame. Maybe side show geeks will perform during the intermission.
Altough I like fighting in hockey, the enforcer serves the purpose of protecting star players. Ask Gretzky if he would have scored all those points if the marginal players were taking runs at him every game. He even thanked Dave Semenko for protecting him during his years with the Oilers. Thats the problem now with in the instigator rule enforcers can't enforce and it has become fighting for fighting sake.

Fighting is part of hockey. If they took away fighting and violence from hockey, you'd be left with soccer on ice. If you took punching from boxing, you're left with nothing. Personally, I like to fight during hockey, even if I get my ass whooped, it helps my anger go away.

Dude its about promoting fighting on ice, not limiting fighting in hockey games.

They should give 'em sticks and knives too. If Canadians want to beat the hell out of each other I say let 'em go.

Well, they wear hockey gloves. The game is sanctioned by the NHL or the league of choice. What's the big deal?
Chewy, you're such a bleeding heart liberal you could supply the red cross for years. No one would have to donate. ;)
