warning sound

Hi i need help with changing the sound on windows 2000, like when an error message pops up, the sound plays in the inside of my comp instead of my speakers its really annoying and makes a rotten sound. i was wondering if i can change it to default. i have no idea how it got like that in the first place anyways.

im not really sure i understand what your saying, but i know how to turn off system beeps. those beeps that come from inside your comp, if thats what your talking about. just let me know if thast what you want, cause im not really fresh on it so im ganna ahve to experament.

yea i know how to get rid of that, its quite confusing, let me experement on it really fast.

do you know what the registry is??? cause it involves that.

ok this is how you do it. it works for me so it should work for you if your running on Windows XP Pro/Home dosnt matter...

Type in REGEDIT in your run box (START>RUN>"REGEDIT") and it comes up with a wierd looking screen...

Now lets back it up incase you make a mistake. go to File>Export, and save it somewhere safe.

Now go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound, and find the BEEP and ExtendedSounds. Set each value to NO.(Just double click on it and change the yes to a NO) Exit the regestry, you dont have to save it or anything, cause it does that automaticly, and reboot your computer. Say good bye to those annoying beeps. if you ever wanna turn it back on, just change the NO to a YES
