And yeah, I know I'll get flamed by rap-haters, but whatever.
Tupac's lyrics/poems are awesome, so tell me, which one is your favorite?
Mine has to be 'until the end of time'.

He some good songs, Brendas Got A Baby and Changes were my favorite but he was far from "lyrical".
His lyrics were ok. And you dont have to hate rap to realize that he is the most overrated rapper ever. He made a few concious songs and people think hes a genius. Rappers have made better rap songs before he died and rappers have made better songs after he died, life moves on.
And this has been done already.

2pac - Words of Wisdom
This is for the masses the lower classes
The ones you left out, jobs were givin', better livin'
But we were kept out
Made to feel inferior, but we're the superior
Break the chains in out brains that made us fear yah
Pledge a legiance to a flag that neglects us
Honour a man that who refuses to respect us
Emmancipation, proclamation, Please!
Nigga just said that to save the nation
These are lies that we all accepted
Say no to drugs but the governments' keep it
Running through our community, killing the unity
The war on drugs is a war on you and me
And yet they say this is the Home of The Free
But if you ask me its all about hyprocracy
The constitution, Yo, it don't apply to me
Lady Liberty still the bitch lied to me
Steady strong nobody's gonna like what I pumpin'
But its wrong to keeping someone from learning something
So get up, its time to start nation building
I'm fed up, we gotta start teaching childern
That they can be all that they wanna to be
There's much more to life than just poverty
This is defaintly ahhh words of wisdom
AMERIKA, AMERIKA, AMERIKKKA
I charge you with the crime of rape, murder, and assault
For suppressing and punishing my people
I charge you with robery for robbing me of my history
I charge you with false imprisonment for keeping me
Trapped in the projects
And the jury finds you guilty on all accounts
And you are to serve the consequences of your evil schemes
Prosecutor do you have any more evidience
Words of Wisdom
They shine upon the strength of an nation
Conquer the enemy on with education
Protect thy self, reach with what you wanna do
Know thy self, teach what we been through
On with the knowledge of the place, then
No one will ever oppress this race again
No Malcolm X in my history text
Why is that?
Cause he tried to educate and liberate all blacks
Why is Martin Luther King in my book each week?
He told blacks, if they get smacked, turn the other cheek
I don't get it, so many questions went through my mind
I get sweated, They act as if asking questions is a crime
But forget it, one day I'm gonna prove them wrong
Now every brother had to smother on the welfare line
The american dream, though it seems it attainable
They're pulling your sleave, don't believe
Cause it will strangle yah
Pulling the life of your brain, I can't explain
Beg as you can obtain from which you came
Swear that your mother is living in equality
Forgeting your brother that's living her apology
Thought they had us beat when they took our kids
But the battle ain't over till the black man sings
Words of Wisdom
But the battle ain't over till the black man sings
Words of Wisdom
NIGHTMARE thats what I am
America's nightmare
I am what you made me
The hate and evil that you gave me
I shine of a reminder of what you have done to my people
for Four hundred plus years
You should be scared
You should be running
You should be trying to silence me
ha ha
But you can not escape fate
Well it is my turn to come
Just as you rose you shall fall
By my hands
Amerika, You reap what you sow
2pacalypse America's Nightmare
Ice Cube and Da Lench Mob America's Nightmare
Above the Law America's Nightmare
Paris America's Nightmare
Public Enemy America's Nightmare
Krs-One America's Nightmare
Mutulu Shakur America's Nightmare
Geronimo Pratt America's Nightmare

25 rappers better then Tupac? At lyrics? Go ahead. So you're going to name people like Eminem maybe?
It's cool you don't like Tupac that much. But personaly, I never heard better lyrics then his. And saying people like him just because he's a legend is ridiculous. Tupac's most awaited album was all eyes on me, and that's before he got to be a ( dead ) legend.

what...canibis and IT are much better then tupac. Do you think tupac can release an album like Rip The Jacker or come up with metaphores like "it take ten times the enzymes to breakdown one of my rhymes". And IT is just a better concious rapper, he flow may not be up to par but his lyrics are much better.

I can name few artists that I like more then Tupac. But I don't think everybody and their mom's better. I mean, Nas is good, but there's no single way Nas is better then Pac. I mean, Nas used to try to sing like Tupac, and it made him go downhill. Or getting a spot on Thugz Mansion... Saying the exact same things Tupac says...

Canibus is a good battle rapper and freestyler but he doesn't make good albums as far as I'm concerned.
Immortal Technique has a few gems like Dance with the Deveil, You Never Know and Peruvian cocaine but most of his songs are either about stupid conspiracy theories or just brag rap. Plus his flow is weak. Two good yet far overhyped and overrated emcees.

Canibis is know for making bad albums, but Rip The Jacker is just on another level. and overall his skills are just better. Canibis is considered one of the best lyricsts even, I dont know how someone can pick him out of the list of rappers I gave and say that he is worse.
And I think IT gets styrotyped as ok because of his flow but if you own his Revolutionary Volume 2 then you would now how great of a rapper he is. But his stuff is a little harder to get into.

Nas in his early days was way better than Pac. Mordern Nas is ehh.. but still overall he's got him beat. Think about it man.. Pac has some good songs but he doesn't have one really great classic album under his belt.. closest thing he has is Me Against The World. You really get more out of that than you do out of Fear of a Black Planet or Midnight Marauders?

Im not talking about who I like more, Im talking about who is better. There are certain things a rapper is graded on...
lyrics
flow
charisma
material
longevity
subject matter and so on..
And Nas is one of the (if not the) best rappers ever. Illmatic is one of the best hiphop CDs ever. Who cares about what spot they tried to get on a song. Im looking at these rappers on their skills.

There's the problem, you're judging on what you like. Nas is not the best rapper ever and there is none. Because it's a question of opinion.

You tupac stans are on some other shit. What opinons, you asked for a list I gave you one. If you dont feel any of the rappers on it just say so and ill prove you wrong. What part of my post makes you think I checked them on likeability. Face the fact, tupac was never good at wordplay, metaphores, and his lyrics were never amazing. And everytime I bring up something you the one who keeps bringing up opinion this and opinion that. He is a good rapper but he is not the best, whats to argue.

I don't have anything against Tupac and I enjoy his music (I own his greatest hits and All Eyes On Me), I just think he is incredibly overrated.
But all the artists I gave our great rappers (alot of them legends in their own right). But who's to say that he couldn't grow as a rapper if he didnt die, so its not exactly a fair comparison I was just trying to show that he isnt the greatest rapper ever and there are artist who are more talented.

Nah.. I fully disagree.. Big was more lyrical AND had a better flow than tupac. And he knew how to stay on subject. He was much more focused, and he really knew how to tell a story better.
Listen to Warning then listen to Brenda's Got a Baby. I think we both know which story is more touching, but which is the better song? Personally I'd much rather listen to Warning. Plus Big wasn't a hypocrite like pac, who was some "thug life" screaming gangster half the time and some sensitive street poet the other half of the time. Big was up front about being a scumbag. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but Ready To Die is just miles above any pac album I've ever heard. This doesn't mean I hate Tupac or I have anything against him, I just don't think his music is anywhere near as good as people say it is.
Since you doubt Fidel Cashflow is serious abotu his list, here is a list of 25 rappers better than Tupac as far as I'm concerned.

2pac is more bad ass and 4 real then any other rapper....if he got shot 5 times he would write a song about it..
the reason he was shot because a armed guy ask for his chain off his neck and he said no..... but come on the guy was awsome if any rapper tried to diss him he would shut them off so fast
against all odds-nas diss
hit em up- biggie smalls diss
how do you want it- ll cool j diss
most of those rapper know one will remember or even know......tupac has sold more records then any other rapper and hes been dead for 9 years
ice cube.....yeah hes cool but he was in family movies and stuff......
andre 3000.....isnt that guy from outkast lol......
2pac was more then a rapper and he really changed the whole rap game
no rap label will ever have better rappers then death row
yeah i think biggie is good but for some reason he nerver cut it as better..
agianst all odds
This little nigga named Nas thinks he live like me
Talkin bout he left the hospital took five like me
You living fantasies, nigga I reject your deposit
We shook Dre punk ass, now we out of the closet
Mobb Deep wonder why nigga blowed them out
Next time grown folks talk, nigga close your mouth
Peep me, I take this war shit deeply
Done seen too many real players fall to let these bitch niggas
beat me Puffy lets be honest you a punk or you will see me with gloves
Remember that shit you said to Vibe about me bein a thug
You can tell the people you roll with whatever you want
But you and I know what's going on
Payback, I knew you bitch niggas from way back
Witness me strapped with Macs, knew I wouldn't play that
All you old rappers trying to advance
It's all over now, take it like a man
Niggas lookin like Larry Holmes, flabby and sick
Tryin to player hate on my shit, you eat a fat dick
Let it be known this is how you made me
Lovin how I got you niggas crazy
Against all odds
Hopin my thug motherf**kers know
This be the realest shit I ever wrote
Against all odds, up in the studio, gettin blowed
To the truest shit I ever spoke, against all odds
hit em up
first off, f**k your bi**h
And the click you claim
West side when we ride
Come equipped with game
You claim to be a playa
But, I f**ked your wife
We bust on Bad Boys
ni**as f**k for Life
Plus Puffy tryin' to see me weak
Hearts I rip
Biggie Smalls and Junior Mafia
Some mark a*s bi**hes
We keep on coming
While we running for yah jewels
Steady gunning
Keep on busting at them fools
You know the rules
Little Ceasar go ask you homie
How i'll leave yah
Cut your young a*s up
See yah in pieces
Now be deceased
Little Kim,
Don't f**k with real a*s G's
Quick to snatch your ugly a*s, off the streets
So f**k peace
I'll let them ni**as know
It's on for Life
Don't let the west side
Ride the night (ha ha)
Bad Boys murdered on Wax and kill
f**k with me
And get your caps peeled
You know, See
Grab your glocks when you see 2pac
Call the cops when you see 2pac, Uhh
Who shot me,
But, your punks didn't finish
Now, you 'bout to feel the wrath of a menace
ni**a, I hit 'em up
Biggie remember when I use to let you sleep on the couch
And beg the bi**h to let you sleep in the house
Now its all about versace
You copied my style
Five shots couldn't drop me
I took it and smiled
Now I'm back to set the record straight
With my A-K
I'm still the thug that you love to hate
Mutha-f**ka I'll Hit 'Em Up

You know I think it's all about opinion, it's weird to say but I've... never heard a single song of biggie. I'm saying his flow's better because I heard people say so, but by judging his few lyrics I've heard, I like Tupac more.
And yes... The thing I like, just like you said, is Tupac touches us more. Maybe Biggie goes straight to the point, but Tupac is more artistic in his stories, and makes me feel like he's me.
And it's very stereotypical to say taht you can't be a thug in the streets and be a sensitive poet... Any good rapper is also a poet.

It makes Evans bristle, however, that some people regard her as the source of the beef between Biggie and Tupac. Shakur claimed he had an affair with Evans, which she denies. "It's not the first time that happened to me - to get lied on," she says. "But God knows the truth. And I know the truth."

I love Tupac, but i think he is highly over rated, ESPECIALLY his albums. Tupac never really made a good album. He made an album with some great songs, but none of his albums were like Nas's Illmatic, where every single song is perfect. Like look at his two-disc albums, you could eaisly cut those down into one, 12-14 song cd.
When i listen to Tupac, i only do it on my burned CDs, cause his albums i usually have to skip every other song cause i dont really like it. I also use my own cause i dont care for the gangster Tupac. Basically the only songs from him that i listen to are the kind of poetic ones where he actually has something he needs to say. Thats why Tupac was such a great rapper, because he some truly message heavy songs.
I like Brendas Got a Baby, Changes, Unconditional Love, Dear Mama, and Life Goes On. My number one favorite is Keep Ya Head. There are so many songs out there talkin all bout smack this bitch and fuck this hoe, and for him to make one dedicated to women like that, its great. And, its also the first song i heard from him, so i kinda hold it above the rest.
But id takes Tupacs poetry book The Rose That Grew From Concrete over any one of his cds any day.
