Does he have to return that like $100,000 he got for retiring now that he's making another album?

Rofl. I thought your opinion on rap was good, but you went really down in my esteem.
I can't wait till Detox. It's coming in Fall. And I never heard of Dre having retired... He has been in studios forever, just not making his own albums.

Fuck Dre and his album.
Exactly, if you can't write your own lyrics then don't call yourself a rapper.

My opinion on rap is good, it's just everyone else's aint quite up to par.
But seriously, Dre aint doing anything hip hop. Everyone worships the dude like he's some sort of genius when he's making some of the most generic music of any genre ever. Seriously, what good has he done for rap? He doesn't write his own lyrics, and his beats are simplistic and repetitive. I swear I can hardly tell one Dre beat from another these days. Back in the day he used to at least be a respectable producer, but now he's neither respectable as a producer nor a rapper. I swear all them 90's west coast dudes are so overrated.. only one who really stands out is Cube.
His new album is gonna have a couple catchy beats and hooks, no substance and some god awful guest appearances. Basically nothing new in the world of mainstream rap.

not sure what i think yet maybe if he keeps g unit off the album
Dr Dre - 2001 was one of my most infulental albums of all time, absoloutely outstanding and i still listen to it every now and then.
I have high hopes for this new album, but judging by his latest signings under his record label, it could also flop. Gonna buy it anyways, just to support one of my favourite producers.

Originally Rakim was going to make an appearance on it as well as making his own album (he was signed to Aftermath). At one point himself and Dre had 65+ songs for Rakim's album and were only going to use about 5 of them for the actual album (meaning there was going to be some quality stuff on there because they're both very picky). However, Rakim left Aftermath because of "artistic differences," so I doubt he is going to appear on Detox now, although we can hope, that man is a genius.
Exactly, if you can't write your own lyrics then don't call yourself a rapper.
There's many rappers that don't write their own lyrics, if you're into rap you'd probably be surprised at who's had ghost writers.

The Watcher II was on Blueprint 2: A Gift and a Curse.
Detox was supposed to be out last year, but Dre put it off and had originally said he wasn't doing it, then he picked it up again.

Dr.Dre made rap what it is now. Without Dre Rap would still have background music similar to the first songs of NWA, or Run DMC. Not that it would be a bad thing, but Dre made rap what it is.
What Dre done to rap?
Snoop Dogg
Nate Dogg
Warren G ( his little bro anyway )
Tupac
Eminem
Obie Thrice
50 Cents
Young buck
Lloydd Banks
The Game
And the list doesn't end here, I'm just too lazy to write it off. Saying his beats are simple etc. Then why the fvck is noone able to equal him? I mean, the only beat makers I might like as much then Dr.Dre are DJ Quik and Timbaland, but even then, they seriously aren't always good.
And about him not writing his songs, that's partialy true. He did write some of his songs.
Oh one other thing. Missy Eliot will be on Detox. And almost all the songs you guys said are in older albums.

Haha... aside from Pac and Eminem, that list is absolutely pathetic. Like I said, back in the day his beats were recpectable and original. But today, his beats bore the shit out of me. I mean these beats he feeds 50.. they're just so goddamn corny.

Everything on that list is respectable, else then G-Unit of course.
Let's all think about something.
Before, the person who had the highest number of oscars was 6, by usher. Now it's 13 by Dr.Dre.
For someone who makes borring beats, he's pretty good eh? Rap without Dre would be like Rock without Elvis...

Lol.. Elvis and Dre are more alike than you might think.. both are overrated and given more credit than they deserve. Elvis didn't invent fuckin rock in roll he just got white peopel into it. Chuck Berry is the true king of rock.
And that list is all respectable besides g-unit? Half the damn list is G-unit, and the other half is mediocre west coast rappers. Aside from Doggystyle which is classic, Snoop aint shit. I don't even have to explain why Nate Dogg and Warren G aren't an impressive addition to the list, and pretty much the rest of it is G-Unit/Aftermath (besides pac, of course.)
Before, the person who had the highest number of oscars was 6, by usher. Now it's 13 by Dr.Dre.So I guess that makes Usher a good artist too? Come on man we all know those awards don't mean shit. That's like bringing up record sales. People who do music as a business are the ones who do good on the charts.

nah, im gonna help jax out here and help you realize that argueing you're for and with a bunch of lame ass rappers who hit big with little talent. dre didn't influence rap, alot of the best shit out has been directly avoiding his style for years and years. i don't think you realize that rap is much broader than it comes off when you feed yourself a strict diet of mainstream rap.

Dre's pushing Game way too much, he's not good.
I heard 'put it on me' too and thought that was fairly good, alittle like his 2001 stuff.
