Aaron Copland was a great composer in the 20th century. What do you think.

Copland is one of my favorites. I'm not real big into composers though, or classical at all for that matter. That's why I like Copland, his style drew much from folk music and rural melodies.

His most famous piece, "Hoedown", is a popular song still played at bluegrass festivals and pickin parties everywhere. It's mostly known as the "Beef, it's what's for dinner" song from the commercials. The famous passage from the song was actually taken from a traditional fiddle tune called "Bonaparte's Retreat" that Copland heard some old timer play. Many of his melodies were like this, borrowing from traditional fiddle tunes to create a symphony.

The song doesn't really do much for me. I'm not a classical music guy, I much prefer the twang of a Telecaster. Most classical just bores me.
