What do you think is the greatest underrated band?
I would have to go with The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

For some reason, CKY comes to mind. So often, people turn them down because of their association with Bam. But these guys really are a talented group of musicians.
Another band, Dust For Life. I love these guys. Modern 'grunge-ish' rock. Almost along the lines of early Pearl Jam. I think most of you have heard the song "Seed" and don't realize it. Check out the songs "Bitten", "Hell Bent", and "Where the Freaks Go."

I would agree with that. Brilliant band.
In terms of legends, the Velvet Underground and Neil Young never seem to get enough mention.

That's what I mean, they like influenced the whole alternative thing but you never see them in the top 10 legends list on magazines, etc.
Nick Drake is also massively underrated.

U2 are possibly the most overrated rock band ever.
If they were known for their older music they wouldn't be overrated at all.

That is how they're overrated in my book. They are held up there with other "rock n roll greats" like the Beatles and Led Zeppelin and they really don't compare at all.

GWAR is so underrated, they would have won so many awards if they were allowed into the awards ceremony, they always get turned away despite being nominated, because they won't wear ties...
GWAR got its first nomination in 1993 for its long-form video, "Phallus in Wonderland," but lost out to Annie Lennox. The group appeared in its full stage gear to pick up its tickets for the ceremony but were denied admission. They relented and invaded a tuxedo rental shop and attended the show.
Jackson said the group will attack the Grammy ceremony again.
Don't say no one has been warned.

Uriah Heep.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer, They are definetely underrated. Download Lucky Man off Limewire, you'll see what I'm talking about.
Cream- Not totally underrated, but everyone only knows like 3 songs. They're kind of like Blue Oyster Cult in terms of ratings.

I would say Quiet Riot
While the mainstream thinks all they are good for is covering Slade tunes, people who are serious about 80s rock know that they were one of the best hair bands of the decade.

Both the Beatles and Led Zeppelin are overrated. The negativity towards U2 is unwarranted. Their 80's and 90's stufff was very good. Especially Unforgettable Fire which is brilliant. Even their new stuff is decent. I just grew out of them. Im so tired of this Beatles/Zeppelin stuff. Both bands have been way overhyped. Listen to Love Forever Changes and get a clue!

Hey I'm far from a Beatles/Zeppelin fan, believe me, but they are still 10x better than boring ass U2. Sorry, they were never good. Not in the 80's, not in the 90's, and not now.

Geez... I like U2, but seriously. They wouldn't even get in my favourite 50 bands. But you're obsessed with them. Not everyone hates them. The general attitude is that they shouldn't be heralded as the greatest rock band ever. And as much as most U2 fans like U2, even they admit that U2 is a bit too mediocre to be the greatest rock band ever. Nevertheless they are good.

The Pixies.
People don't realize how important their music was to virtually every single rock band of the nineties and today, but nobody even knows who they are. Their style was so different, and they are such musical masters, that I would have to say, hands down they are the most underrated band of all time (or at least in the last 20 years).

You will probably be rehabbed (not fadetoblack, YOU) because of your excessive stupidity and grammar that would give an English teacher a stroke. Why the hell do you put ":<" between every few words? By the way, how would you "loose" a fight? Do you make it less tight? By the way, you wouldn't win the fight if it even happened. I mean, come on, you said that you liked Korn! You lose the fight already.
By the way, to answer the thread's question, Guns n' Roses. Everybody just says, "Oh, Axl Rose is annoying. I hate GnR." If you were to eliminate him (I wouldn't, I think he IS Guns n' Roses), you still have a great band.
