I don't know exactly why they would drop the religion, maybe its because people are sick of being branded terrorists because of the religion they follow. Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesent Islamic teach its followers to treat women like animals? I have nothing personal against Islam as everybody has there own beliefs, and for all we know what these people say MAY be right, compared to what we belive in. I for one how ever do not belive in "Bashing my wife" or saying that "We are superior to every other religion".

Just one thing i'd like to say on this topic, I don't mind living with other religions such as Muslims in Australia, but it gets to a point where these people start changing our national identity and they stop following our rules, and make there own.

Your source is correct insofar as that traditional Islam puts men above women, but what it misses is a comparison to Christianity, both in theory as in practice. And in comparing the two the first thing you have to remember that Islam and the Arabic world is very diverse, as is Christianity and the western world. If you start comparing, Women in the USA are better of than women in Iran and Afghanistan, but what about Turkey, Libanon and Indonesia? How do they compare? What happens when you compare the Christian Russia to Arabic countries?

Also, it's traditional monotheïstical dogma to say that Women are inferior and your religion is the best, in basically any religion with one God, because those religions are almost always headed by a small group of men, who want to rule the world.

What is a problem in Islam is that there is hardly any traditional answers to the questions you get when you're a religious minority, because until halfway into the last century they had never been a religious minority. The Islam is a religion that works very well if they have a majority and treats minorities relatively well. Christianity is a religion, on the other hand, that works much better as a minority, as you in the USA, where Christians are ruling and they aren't too keen on the minorities.

@Crayon: Correct me if I'm wrong, but right now Republicans (Christians) have a majority in the Senate and the Congress and the current President is a Republican. This, my friend, means that Republicans (/Christians) are ruling the USA. And on that stat of yours, does it actually mean what you say it does: Does a country with 1 Jew, 1 Islamic, 1 Hindu and 1 Bhudist and 150 million Christians have a place on that ranking? Basically what you are saying is that you have a bloody lot of minorities and I never denied that, I'm saying that Christian rulers traditionally have more problems with respecting minorities' religious rights. And I'm wondering, in how many Islamic countries have you been and tried to eat ham? It's really not as bad as you think, except maybe in countries like Iran.

Look, Im probably as close a member as youll get who has "quit" Islam but you really should make youre biases less revealing.

Anyway, I wouldnt go as far as saying I quit or abandoned Islam, I just dont practise it. Im not sure if there really is a God out there, one of my least of worries at teh moment Id say. Islam is not unstable! It is a very stable religion and infact I have more respect for Islam now (and other religions) than when I was a "believer". Im sure anyone who was born Christian or Jewish and are just not as commited to a religion can compare with me, I know a lot of people out there are.

Like i said before, religion is the least of my worries so I guess Ill just say im not as commited to a religion than other people. I dont pray, hell i even eat whatever i feel like without regrets (incl. pork, and beef). My parents are a bit religious and they want me to follow but they know i dont so I guess they just stopped trying. And just like the main religions out there, Ive been told when I was young that "youre going to hell if you dont follow, blah, blah, blah". No other warnings. Most muslim friends know I dont care and they respect my decision. Oh and 9/11 has in no way shape or form has affected my decision nor did the requirements of Islam.

Men have slightly higher status than women yes but it really varies depending on what your background culture is. Arabians and Pakistanis are very conservative but there are other Muslim countries that are less extreme. I really suggest reading a book once in a while instead of watching the news all the time. You clearly have a lot of misconceptions of islam.

EDIT: If anyone actually botheres to read UK_Patriot's posts, youll get all the answers you need about women and Islam. In my post, I mixed up culture with religion.

how many times the original of the text was copied time after time,leaving out parts or complete pages of the written messages ?
how many times censorship was done by altering the stories to have it fit in the religion story ?
have they ever found hard proof that the people described in the text were real life types ?

While it is true that the Islamic faith is to blame, that does not mean ALL of its followers should be persecuted. Islam, like any other group, has good people and bad people.

The only thing about Islam is that their "bad people" are the most dangerous and numerous in areas of US interest now. I would not look at this issue as "we need to conquer Islam." It should be viewed instead as a purging of fundamentalism within their religion. If only the reformers are left, Islam will become a truly peaceful religion, not the vile, misogynistic, hypocritical religion that Mohammed created.
