The Bundesliga season has now officially started with the match Bayern Munich vs. Möchengladbach. It's the first official match in the new Allianz Arena too.

So, any thoughts on the season? Will Bayern win clearly like in the past seasons or will another team be a real threat?

What the hell does the Bundesliga have to do with Baseball?

Anyway, the Bundesliga is a competition that has traditionally a lot of suprising teams. I don't know what Werder and Dortmund can do this season, but I'm hoping Dortmund won't be the disaster they were last season.

There are many teams out there that will try to challenge Bayern, like Schalke, Werder, Leverkusen, HSV, Stuttgart and maybe even the Borussia.

I hope Schalke can make it, they have a pretty good team and I find the club pretty likeable :)

That is if they manage not to go broke. Even though Dortmund was in the press last year, for having financial trouble. Schalke has even higher debt, and the only thing they seem to do about it is buy more players, in hope to win some titles. So if they have a shitty season, they're are going to be in some serious trouble.

I think as long as Bayern are able to hang on to Ballack and Makaay, they should be able to win the title without to many problems. They'll probably fall back once or twice in the seasons, but that is their strength: continuity. Like Schalke last year who had a good run, but weren't able to sustain their good condition.

Leverkusen will fall back a bit due to the loss of Franca.

Well, I have to admit I am not that well informed about the financial situation of Schalke, but they don´t buy as expensive players as Borussia did the past years. Ernst costed nothing, Kevin Kuranyi 7,9 millions, the new danish striker ca. 1,2 millions, I think a club like Schalke should be able to afford that.

Bayern is an incredibly strong team, yes, they are definitively one of the top 5 teams of Europe, but as long as the Bavarians play in the Championsleague too, the other teams stand a chance in the Bundesliga, imho.
