The season is almost here! :) . Post anything that has to go with The NFL here. Anything about games, players, stats and up coming games. This should prevent a billion threads about Football from being made.
I am rooting for the Patriots this season. They have lost a few good players but they still have a great team. Pats (http://www.patriots.com/team/index.cfm?ac=players)

I'm hoping the Cowboys can make a decent showing this year ... they've been terrible the past few years and I'd like to see them come back. They need to find a good quarterback and stick with him.

zooch, it was a preaseason game, anyway i think eagles are again have no competion and go to the super again. steelers and patriots will be interesting to watch. steelers lost burress, and apparently ward showed up at training camp. pats lost brushci and law. T.O. will play for the eagles this year, but goddamn, his agent sucks. this is the second time he didn't meet the deadline to fax something in.

If they don't get Hines a new contract in PIT then I don't think he will play. even if he is in camp right now.
He deserves a new contract too, why is Pitts FO so jewish?...
Anyways... Steelers suck.. GO BROWNS..
You know it.
Oh and to the person who started the thread... "Im going to be a patriots fan this year because the have won the super bowl 3 out of the last 4 years and I like to say they are my favorite team when they really aren't but thats okay because they are good."
I hate fairweather fans... EVEN Steeler fans stick with their team when they are down..

Haha, that sentence looks wrong in so many ways, you say the Steelers suck, no problem, but then say "GO BROWNS".....hahahahaha.
I'm a Steeler fan myself, but I dont have high hopes of them going to the Superbowl, they'll make the playoffs and as long as their under head coach Bill Cowher, they wont go far.
I'm saying Colts/Vikings, and Viks go all the way.
steelers lost burress, and apparently
Everyone keeps bringing up the fact we lost Burress....and? Some people even think it's a loss...news flash Walker Kronchite, Burress was the third leading receiver in catches last season for the Steelers. He drops the ones when he's wide open, and makes the miraculous catches...no loss.
By the way, the departure of Plaxico doesnt mean a thing, considering a Freddy Gibson and Heath Miller make up for that.
KakUMei
08-17-2005, 05:33 AM
Loosing Plaxico will be a BIG deal if nobody else cant step it up. Hines Ward will see LOTS of double coverage now that Plexiglass is gone. Unless someone steps up early in the season teams wont give too much respect to any reciever or TE (other than ward).
Wilson is a solid #3 reciever, Randle El is a slot reciever. Heath Miller might turn out to be good but he wont have a huge impact in his rookie year.
EDIT: who is freddie gibson?

By stepping up do you mean letting balls go through your hands and dropping catches directly in your hands? Hines wont see any double coverage as long as Randle El, Wilson, Gibson, and Miller are there.
Fred Gibson is a fourth round wide receiver pick, who was projected to be gone in the first round the season before. He caught 1 pass for 11 yards against the Eagles and made a HELL of a block during the game. He's the tallest receiver they have, 6'4", and should be good for the team.

???????????????????
Jets have the best defense in the NFL, lol Colts are miles away from being a defensive force, and thats why your team will never reach the superbowl, all you have is a complete offnesive package who hpes their defense doesn't give up a point.
Jets defense was top 4 in the NFL last year, now we added atheletic safetys, Justin Miller, We still have our pro bowler defensive ends in Shaun Ellis and John Abraham, a dominant tackel in Dwayne Robertson, the best young MLB inj the NFL, Jon Vilma, playing along side with Eric Barton and Victor Hobson, two young explosive linebackers as well
Along with the addition of the best corner back in the league, Ty Law.
Jets got a new offensive coordinator too papa, so no more Paul Hacket pussy plays, lets go for less, we'll have a guy who's going to use creative plays, and use his talented players to play bigger roles.
if Pennington is healthy, Offensive line does well
Jets > Lock for superbowl
How are Jets overrated? No one talks about the Jets except Jets fans

Shut the fuck up homer, theres no way the Jets defense tops Baltimore or Buffalos defense. They were not ranked 4, they were ranked 7, who was before them? Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Washington, Denver, Tampa Bay, and Baltimore, I'd take 5/6 of those defenses over the Jets. Love the homer syndrome you have where nearly EVERY player on your team is "explosive" and "ready to stand up"..and how all your rookies are going to do marvolous, haha, give me a break man, the Jets are good, but your overhyping them as we speak now.

4th in points...your point? Were they overall 4th? NNNNope.
Chris McAllister is the best shut-down corner in the league, he's just as physical as Ty Law, and he STAYS healthy...in Laws prime he was the better of the two, these days McAllister is the man, so stop being a fucking homer and appreciate talent when you see it, instead of overlooking Jet players in front of other players that are more worthy.

Shut the fuck up first, check this out
Pittsburgh 15.7
NY Jets 16.3
New England 16.3
Philadelphia 16.3
Please, tell me you're not serious, not top 4? They're tied for 2nd, you stupid piece of shit, with the addition of Ty Law, Justin Miller, Rhodes, and other atheletic Safetys, including the rise of Vilma and Robertson the two elite young defnsive NFL players, and WITH the two pro bowlers Abraham and Ellis, Jets defense is a lock for top 3 again, and theres nothing you can change about that
Ty Law was just injured for half a season, before that, he was barely injury prone the man has 36 INTO's and 6 touchdowns career wise
Its Chris McAlister, not Chris McAllister, Chris McAllister is a NHL hockey player you dumbass, spell his name right next time cupcake

Phew, angry are we?
I dont know where you got those stats, but uh, mine say otherwise.
Pittsburgh 15.7
New England 16.2
Philadelphia 16.2
New York (A) 16.3
Washington 16.6
You must know nothing of football, the reason why McAlister had 1 INT is because no QB throws his side, because he's a SHUT DOWN CORNER...can I express this more to you?
So what if I mispelled his name with 1 extra L, still doesnt mean Ty Law is better than him.
Pro bowlers? Who gives flying fuck about a popularity contest? Ellis and Abraham are decent, and they probably are the best ones they have on D.
OVERALL defense, this means how many yards they gave up, the Jets were #7, and OVERALL...they were number 7, so stop trying to go on 1 stat and assume that they are #1. Besides, I dont care how many stats you dig up, Buffalo, Baltimore, New England, Pittsburgh, Washington, and Tampa Bay are more physical, and have a better defense than the Jets.
The Jets were ranked 14th against the pass, 5th against the run, and 4th in points per game, it OVERALL adds to the 7th best stats in the league, F-U-C-K-I-N-G H-O-M-E-R.
HAHAHA, the rise of Dewayne Robertson, you'll dig up anyone on your team and say they are on the rise...fucking homer.
HAHA, excuse us if the rest of the league doesnt fear Justin Miller and Kerry Rhodes, :icon_rofl You pick up 2 guys in the draft and all of a sudden you have the "best defense in the league"

I'm a proud Titans fan, even after our 5-11 season. We picked up some solid rookie wide receivers this year and we are injury free, which is what bombed us last year.I can say without a doubt that currently we are one of the most underrated teams in the league. I mean, even Cardinal fans are predicting a win against us.

You guys watching the Browns today? Their defense is really good, Garcia is running all the time. The offense is pretty good too, I think, if the keep up their morale, that they will have a good season. But than again, all Cleveland teams start up great, and then start sucking at the end. What are your thoughts, can they keep up the good work?

Black Death, great win for the Browns today, defense still has a long way to go IMO.
There was alot of improvement though, but I still really dont like the run D.
Frye looked great, so did Braylon, and Antonio Bryant will have a big year IMO.

Their defense is not "really good", you cannot judge that on a pre-season game, hell the Steelers have had one of the best special teams game I've seen in all my damn life, but that doesnt mean they have the best special teams.
Cleveland start off great with 1 game, last year they managed to beat Baltimore, after that, :icon_rofl :icon_rofl
Hines, Mason, and C.J. will have some fun with Brian Russell, :bang:

It's not that they won their first two games, its how they won. The organization itself is running smoothly, Frye seems very focused and knows how to play the game.
And like i said, the Browns have started out good before and then crashed and burned. But this is a different team, different coach, different QB, different wide receiver, new begining. I am optimistic about their future.

Favre will dominate your defense. Good luck and have fun in the cellar of the NFC North. It must be boring down there after many years of frustration.
Joey H probably will flop again (even against the Packers' D) and I think Garcia will actually make the Lions a decent 6-10 or 7-9 team.

No receiving core is better when they lose Randy Moss. Maybe chemistry wise, but damn, he's the best receiver in the league.

Get the fuck out of my face.
Anyways, the Chargers will get into the play-offs once again, but will be knocked out pretty early into them. That's my prediction. Our secondary will be the anchor that keeps us out of the Superbowl.

Are you on crack? The Chargers blew it against the Jets, Packers arent even in the AFC..mwaha.
Also, if you want to look at it, the Jets GAVE them that oppertunity, when Barton wanted to act stupid and give them a roughing the passer call..if it werent for that, the game would have been over...so yeah, Chargers deserved to lose that game.

here's why
1. Peyton stinks in the postseason
2. Peyton complains about pats usings too much "force"

I think peyton is much better than brady. He has all the right things you need to be an excellent qb and then some. He has vision, Size, Accuracy, Strength and The Work Ethic. Yet most people who think brady is better are from the northeast because they listen to WEEI (the sports radio station up north) and all they do is talk brady up and play manning down. This is coming from the radio station who said Pedro would be a sub-par pitcher this year. Last time they had Shawn Salsbury on the show he said Peyton was much better so the radio show ended the interview after two questions. They won't admit it so the people believe it.

You cant go by 1 bad game Brady had and say Manning is better off of it.
Manning also has Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, 2 deep threat receivers with great hands, aside from Branch (Who isnt half way as good as Wayne or Harrison), Tom Brady has worked with basically nothing.
He had more interceptions last year?...Big whoop, Brett Favre threw more interceptions than Aaron Brooks, and in no way, shape, or form is Brooks better than Favre.

Lostpelican, McNair is done, but Chris Brown is a fucking baller. He hurt his toe last year? If he doesn't get hurt this year, the Titans might have a chance at being good, but they are in the same division as the Colts and Jacksonville.
Speaking of Jacksonville, that Matt Jones is going to be great. He's like 6' 5'' and amazingly fast. Though, I don't know how many big tackles he'll be able to take, seeing as how he has been a quarterback.
Has anyone been watching Ricky Williams play? I realize it's preseason, but he looks amazing. Him and Randy Moss. Two athletes who smoke weed. You know what I'm going to do? Some some weed.
And that shit about Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady. Manning can probably beat Tom Brady, but not outside, in New England, in January. He needs his dome....like the Vikings. Vanderjagt missed like a 40 yard field goal at the end of the first game last season. If he had made that kick, and the Colts had gone on to beat them in overtime, that 20-3 loss in the playoffs would have been a homegame for the Colts. I seriously doubt that even the Patriots could hold that offense to 3 points indoors.
I don't know if that makes anyone worse or better than the other, they're both great at different things.
Peyton Manning: Throws touchdowns, and, statistically speaking, is some kind of God.
Tom Brady: Wins Super Bowls.
That being said, I'd still probably take Manning over Brady. Just because you could argue that he is just a cog in the holistic entity that is the New England Patriots. They had great coaches and a great system laid down, and probably would have been able to win three Super Bowls with just an above average quarterback, which, in reality, Tom Brady is.
Compare it to the zone blocking scheme the Broncos use. My man Clinton Portis put up big numbers and looked great. Last year, the Broncos lose a him. But so what? They throw in Tatum Bell or Reuben Droughns and they look great too.
This doesn't make Portis or Brady any less great, but it does make them appear far better than they actually are.

First of all thats complete bullshit. You know why he does all that movement? He is doing something nobody in the NFL does.... he calls his own plays. He also calls probably the most audibles too. Nobody calls his own plays because thats just 'what the coach does'. Peyton analyzes everything everyplay of the game. The game where he could have gotten 50 TDs he took a knee. If he wanted to he could have easily just called the play and would have scored.
Dont say Manning doesnt think because he is without a doubt the smartest most technical person on the field.
I think the Eagles have a better chance to win it all this year. McNabb is the shit as always and TO, without any other options, will play like the top WR he is. Greg Lewis is fast as shit and will be just as great. Reggie Brown and the rest of the core will develop and learn behind those guys and will be factors as well. The running backs are great too. Westbrook and Moats are the same type of player and will be highly effective. Hopefully Levens or another big back will join the team too. We need that redzone push.

I think it is really too early to say if McNair is done, considering just a year ago he was the Co-MVP. Depending on what happens this year, I dunno, but Norm Chow is known for being a QB coach and was a big reason Matt Leinart got so big in USC. So we'll see.
By the way, when did Jacksonville get so much accalim? Other than having an amazing defense, what makes them so fantastic?

I see, so not going 15-1 automatically eliminates from any playoff oppertunity?
So what if we didnt make it this year...the Eagles didnt make it in 3 repetive years, and made the Superbowl.
Those are stupid reasons, and my point stands corrected.

Vernon Haynes is our depth...
Well, Willie looked great in camp for what I saw, when he had playing time last year he did well, and in the preseason he's averaging 10.2 yards a carry. It sure will be interesting to see how he'll do against a weak Titans D.

Yeah that's what I thought immediately after the play since everyone was getting up but he didn't move a muscle. Then his legs started twitching, scared the hell out of me. That's never a good sign, but apparently he just had a neck strain or bruised spine or something like that.
Speaking of that game, what does everyone think of Steven Jackson? That's a future stud back right there. Hopefully this means many more years of power football for the Rams (and some balanced playcalling). We haven't had a power back since our Jerome Bettis days.
Now I just wish I drafted him in my fantasy football leagues.

Who do you guys think the Broncos running back should be, Anderson or Bell. Anderson is proven and he will easily get 1,000 yards barring any injuries, but Bell has the potential with the Broncos O-Line and running system to have a 1500 yard season. He's also younger and has more potential. Your thoughts.

Bell will most likely start the whole year, he's a good solid back that's getting his oppertunity, and he'll take it.

In the regular season, he sticks with a gameplan, and it works. He is one of the most successful regular season coaches in the league. However, his playoff performances over the past years have been pathetic. People like to give Roethlisberger all the credit for blowing their final game...whenever it was Cowher that was calling the wrong plays at the wrong time, and the Patriots didnt fall for any of it.

Jets do look quite good compared to last year, but you cant logicaly write off the patriots. the jets have potential but they dont have a solid system that works in place just yet. Like allot of teams in the NFL they have a team that looks like a good squad but without a winning coaching system they cant expect more than an 8-8. Have to wait and see whether they can work something out.
whereas the patriots have a team of decent to good players with no one truely outstanding but they have a system and a coaching team that just works like nothing else ive seen. If i had to pick a team to win the AFC east i'd say the Pats everytime cause you cant argue with the form they have shown over the last few years.

I wouldnt say they have degraded too much, we lost Law and Bruschi. Law hardly even played for the Pats last year and we still one. Bruschi is a big loss for this year but it shouldnt hurt this team this bad. Only way Pats wont win the division is if there are more injuries.

The "only" way? Thats a bold statement, and a wrong statement, the Patriots will lose the division because other teams will outplay them, not because of injuries, dont even start with any injury bullshit, because every team will have them.
Law hardly played, but it's going to be hard to repeat with corners like Gay and Poole.

Sorry pal, quit babying your team, your offense isnt that great.
McCarriens, Chrebet, and Cotchery are not deep threats, get that out of your head, that just sounded rediculous. Coles isnt a pro bowl type receiver because, #1. He cant get over 10 TD's, 2. He cant get over 1300 yards, and #3. He's too small, Coles and Pennington do have great chemistry, but it's not even close to one of the best in the league.
Mawae is definitely the best center in the league, but Kreutz is very close.

Jets will win the division without a doubt. Pats may get a wildcard.
The Jets D have a better linebacking core as well as a better backfield.
The loss of both Teddies are a HUGE LOSS. They fit in perfect with hybrid scheme as both could play on the line as well.
On offense, pats have tom brady and a good system thats it. None of their recievers are anything special. Jets have coles who has good chemistry with penny, as well good possesion guys in chrebet and mac. Offensive line is still good. And whoever said mawae is overrated is an idiot, he is the most sound, most athletic center in the league. Those sweeps where he leads are just sick. Which brings me to the the difference maker in Martin. The smartest running back in the league. He uses his blocks as well as anyone and will always get you positivce yards.
Final predictions - Jets 12-4, Pats 11-5, Bills 10-6, Fins 5-11
Im not even a jet fan but i watch them a lot since im a giant fan and jets/giants never play at the same time.
007 - Its called football because the game was a running game in the begining, no foward passes. Thats the best way i could describe it, or reason it.
Its exciting because of the passion and extreme athletisism, you dont realize it but practiclly any of those fat guys can run, excluding the o-lineman ill bet that 90% of them would beat you in a race.
Plus its athleticlly challenging. A football player would be able to play soccer and have much more success then a soccer player playing football.

Basically just go with their meanings:
Probable means more than likely will play. Questionable is more likely to miss, but still can play (like 60% likely to miss). Doubtful means almost absolutely sure to miss. Out means there's absolutely no way he'll play.

ok. im not going to sit here and make excuses for culpepper, but when you watch nfl primetime tonight, look at the highlites and culpeppers not only gets screwed out of 1 td, but 2 td passes to wiggins. probably making tied at 17-17 not necessarily 21-17 forcing TB to pass instead of cadillac gettin that long run at the end. plus the pick at the end went into moe williams hands, he fuckin tips it to kelly or whatever. and I dont know what that pick was to Derrick Brooks? oh well.
Oh well. Yeah culpeppers first half was horrendous. like 2 picks and a fumble.the new defense looked alright. but needs more time to gel still. Oh well, first week jitters/rust. we'll get it on track.

darren sharper showed up for one play a game like usual bahaha. The vikings surprisingly sucked ass, i thought they would be good this year....and thats coming from a packer fan. But the viking offense AND their "stacked" defense sucked the big one today, they got a well deserved loss.
The packers were horrible on defense as expected, no surprises there, although the second half wasnt too bad considering how much talent the lions have at the skill positions. The offense just stunk. This was the first game in 78 consecutive games that the packers didnt score an offensive touchdown...just sickening.
All of that considered, the officiating crew did not give the packers one break that entire game...14 penalties for 100 yards, and suprise surprise 4 on ahmad carrol...3 which should have no been called. I dont know why they pick on this kid so much, you could see the frustration on his face. It seemed like every time the packers got something going, the refs would take it away with some cheap penalty. Hands to the face when he hits his shoulder pad? Cmon you are an nfl official, you should be better than that.

actually, sharper had some nice hits. I was impressed. the TD was just an added bonus..but according to packer fans, if he doesnt do it twice, it was a fluke play. I dont get how our defense sucked the big one.the bucs capitilized on DC's early to's with starting possessions in the MIN zone and throwing 2 TD passes a to a rookie tight end. i still thought our defense had a good run stopping day. you can look at cadiallacs #'s and 80 of his yards are from the 80 yard run at the end of teh game on 3rd and 1.

actually, sharper had some nice hits.
Im not worried at all. there still is no team in the NFC north that scares me. NO NOT EVEN THE LIONS WHO ARE SO SKILLED! haha.
^^^^this is why i hate viqueens fans...its fun living in minnesota and listening to all the idiots talk about "the purple". I even heard a purple fan wishin they would have drafter favre way back when bahaha.
For your info Sharper will always get his Int returns...but it wont make up for the TDs and receptions he gives up. I saw his "Big Hits" too....too bad he hit them so hard that the ball stayed in their hands haha dummy. He played like shit. And yes the lions are skilled, Jones is one of the best young RBs in the league, and their WR trio is one of the best in the league. They have a good line, and their defense is quickly improving....they are not a bad team at all.

Oh, and just to have some fun, whenever there is a game that involves Michael Vick and you are present, be sure to bring a sign that says "Hi Ron Mexico!" Be sure to piss him off real good...
Oh yeah, Bills vs. Falcons in 2 weeks. If anyone has access to this game, be sure to look for the guy with the sign that says "HI RON MEXICO!"

FUCKING mcnabb and his FUCKING shitty ass passes.... if the all star pro bowl starting lineup first round draft pick could hit a FUCKING pass maybe we woulda won that game. god damit and the fact that they wasted 4 fuckin timeouts during the game just puts me in awe. didnt they learn anything when they blew the biggest game ever - the superbowl.
then you see his ass on the sidelines smiling and joking around... i like the fact that he can keep his cool but come the fuck on... you have to know when to get serious and stop fucking joking around.
vick ran for however many yards and mcnabb just stayed in the fuckin backfield like some useless white quarterback (detmer).

how do you think ben graham will go, you know the guy from australia who plays for the jets
he is a punter, no one cares!!!
no im just kidding, he has as strong a leg as i have ever seen. His other real good advantage is he punts the ball differently from other punters. He kicks end over end, while most punters spiral the kick and he also kicks from his left which will give returners problems fielding the punt because of the opposite spin. If he ever gets smart with his punts and learns to control them better he may get a probowl spot in a year or two.
Let me ask you something, can the guy boot the ball from the ground pretty far? Because the jets need a guy for kickoffs, nugent doesnt have the strongest of legs in that regard.

Just got home from the Texans/Steelers game. First off I am a Cowboy fan but we bought season tickets this year to the Texans since we live about 45 minutes from Reliant Stadium.
Well they got thier asses handed to them by the Steelers. It was also a sea of yellow towels throughout the stadium. To top it all off they had the fucking roof open all game and it was 98 degrees out with little wind. Tailgating before and after was hot enough as it was.
We figured since the A/C is turned on in the Astrodome for the refugees, they had the roof open in Reliant to save money. Our seats were in the shade thank goodness but it was still hot.
Like I said though, lots of Steeler fans everywhere. They had a reason to celebrate too. They kicked the Texans ass all over the field.

Shut the fuck up dickhead. I already said that their defense was too good in the fourth quarter preventing us from coming back, but way too many penalties for the Pats. Who the fuck are you calling me a troll faggot.
Granted the Panthers are a great team with one of the best defenses around. They outran, out passed, outplayed, and outscored the Pats plain and simple. But I must say something about the Patriots.
If you have followed the Pats the past 2 years you would know this is not the way they normally play or what they are capable of. First off, way too many penalties, mainly all where mental errors and stupidity.......1st and 25 is not how you want to get a drive going. I also feel the Pats left something out of their offensive game plan. Where did the TE's go? One more thing, the Pat's gave up 3 rushing TD's, first time since the 2000 season. Don't you miss Ted and Teddy. This was Teddy's defense in more than one way. Basically the Pats are a different team this year, it's easy to fix the false start penalties, but they still need to find their personality on defense and rhythm on offence. I hope they do it soon because Pittsburgh is coming up next week and it's not going to get any easier. All and all I'm not worried about the Patriots. It was just the second game of the year, they will find a way to put things together.

Well from where I'm standing I can see the Chiefs having their way on both sides with the Patriots...however, if the Steelers can beat the Pats this upcoming week, I will go out and say the Steelers will be the most dangerous team in the AFC, and the powerhouse representing it, thats only if they beat the Pats..
