Regardless of what this generation thinks hardcore was started in the 80s by Minor Threat and Black Flag. Some of the more popular real hardcore bands that are around today are: With Honor, Comeback Kid, Bane, Terror, and Champion. None of the bands this dude listed are hardcore, they're all metalcore (and shitty metalcore bands at that) or nu-metal, which is what many believe is hardcore now.

I think I like these guys a bit more than Cock and Ball Torture. Especially because of the song names.

Most real hardcore bands write about sticking together, the straight-edge movement, and other things of that nature. Most hardcore is actually very positive music.
