I agree. Come back when your taste in music matures a bit more, shithead...

My tastes have matured as far as they're going to, and what I've found is bands like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath are lyrical dumbasses who don't have the musical ability to play more than three damn chords. AC/DC have pumped out the same album for thirty fucking years! And ignorant assholes who root Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath (Paranoid, the album, turned me off metal) to the birth of heavy metal are too busy learning the same fucking five riffs on guitar as every other teenager in the country, to look a SINGLE year back! 1968: Blue Cheer! Iron Butterfly! Deep Purple! Steppenwolf! And Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd is problably worse then Michael Bolton. It's self-indulgent overproduced pap. These women are so overrated they could record an album of fart noises and it'd be called a musical revolution. I find Dark Side Of The Moon makes "Build Me Up Buttercup" seem like Pet Sounds material in comparison. Dark Side Of The Moon put me to sleep because it was so damn boring! Give me some Turtles. You Baby, Nobody But You!
P.S. And you know your favourite band's cool when all the 14 year old girls are running around in Led Zeppelin shirts and backwards Pink Floyd hats.

None of the bands you like even compare to Pink Floyd. The others, I don't care much for but you're a complete idiot for what you just said about PF.
P.S. Pink Floyd was good way before "14 year old girls were running around with backwards Pink Floyd hats".

None of the bands compare to Pink Floyd because I don't like Floyds genre and if they're the supposed best there's not much to look for. Frankly, lengthy jams covered in "trippy" effects about swimming in a sea of Windex eating staples highlighted by an indistinguishable guitar solo isn't my thing. A two minute single about a guy who plays tambourine is more up my alley.

I like Country, Classical, and Opera, and no one's told me to leave here. Why the fuck should it be any different because he's new? At least he's honest, and doesn't feel like he has to go with the crowd liking whatever everyone else likes. I had no problem at all until he mentioned that all of the bands he dislikes are "Lyrical dumbasses who can't play more than 3 chords". It just proves that he either doesn't take the time to listen to the music he's ripping on, or he's just too fucking stupid to realize how wrong he is.
And I'm sure you realized by now that people are rather defensive over their music taste on these forums. Especially when ignorance is involved.

I used to buy these bands albums and listen to a fare amount of their music just to be "cool," so by experiencing their "best" material lyrical stupidity and three chords were all I found. I wouldn't made a fucking statement if I couldn't back it up.

WOW! EightMilesHigh knows about DSOTM. He's obviously an expert on Pink Floyd. Enough to say that they're shittier than Michael Bolton, too.
I'd like to see any of the bands that you like measure of to the pure musical talent of Pink Floyd. It's called progressive rock. Do you know what progressive rock bands do? They experiment with different things, different styles. Every Pink Floyd album has a different sound. Maybe if you listened to a variety of their stuff you'd see...but probably not, as I suspect that you are a raging asshole who cannot admit to being wrong.
David Gilmour was/is one of the greatest guitarists who's ever lived. As evidence of this, I urge you to listen to any of the following songs: High Hopes, Sorrow, On the Turning Away, Echoes...any of their songs, actually.
I suppose you think Frank Zappa sucks?

1. I know this, but if the guy's new that doesn't mean we have to hate on him.

not only do you hate on bands like Pink Floyd, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin for being "3 chords bands", you like bands like The Animals and The Byrds, whos music is far less complex than Pink Floyds and Led Zeppelins. Complexity doesn't always translate into good music. Look at Jimi Hendrix: He was a great guitar player, better then most anyone will ever be, but talent doesn't always equal good songs. Frankly, I don't look to music as a philisophical experience, I look to it to hear sounds & melodies that are pleasant to my ears.

If complexity doesn't translate into good music, why did you make it to the central point of your arguments about Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and co, that their songs encompassed only 3 chords? For the umpteenth time in this thread, you have contradicted yourself...

I'm actually sidin with the N0obie on this 1, just to b awkward. The thread wasnt as narrowminded as some of the ones made here simply to annoy the regular users. The fact that EightMilesHigh has actually come up with reasons backin up his opinion (nt very gud 1s tho) is a step up from the usual "Slipknot roxs, every other band suxxxxxx" threads.
Also if a n0ob came in and made their first post an "i hate rap, i like rock" thread, theyd probably wudnt get any abuse despite a lack of individuality.
(BTW, i actually like rock/metal ect, but im just gettin kinda annoyed with this forum and how fuckin repetitive it is regardin music taste. Lookin foward to the next "PiNk FLoyD ROXXX" thread, which seem to appear as often as the slipknot appreciation threads, with the reply posts being just as predictable) :shout:

Um, I'm not really sure where you've been forever, but as long as I've been here people haven't really shown me that they take a liking to slipknot. People get bashed all the time for saying they like slipknot. Making a thread about them would get about the same reaction as posting a "I AM GHEYZORS" thread... And I just think that someone shouldn't just show up and on their first post make a thread. I had a 10 or 15 posts before I decided to make a thread. You should just get yourself a little known before deciding to do that.

That wasnt his intention. He merely stated his opinion. If his opinion disrespects artists, then you are all guilty of the same crime. He has a right to his opinion. You have a right to comment on his taste but to call him an idiot and label him as immature and someone who does not get music in general is not right. The argument on the three cords and how his favorites play less than three cords does not match up because they are diffrent genres of music and have totaly diffrent factors that come into play when it comes labeling them as greatness.

I had no problem with your first post. Only your second one. First you say technical complexity=good music, then later on you say technical complexity=bad music. And all the while, you say Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd aren't technically complex, which is rubbish (but according to you, technicality should/shouldn't matter anyway). I found the comment about the 3 chords incredibly ironic. Sure... The Turtles are more technically complex than Led Zeppelin ! Led Zeppelin uses things called "guitar solos". These use more than "3 chords". Also, even if Black Sabbath used only 2 chords on the guitar, they have this awesome bassist called Geezer Butler, who drives their music. Sorry, Led Zeppelin aren't lyrical dumbasses, and there's more to a song than lyrics anyway (I bet instrumentals kill you). If DSOTM puts you to sleep, your attention span and/or musical appreciation/understanding is very poor. You're not the kind of person for progressive music.
I had no problem that you didn't like Led Zep etc. from your first post. I had a problem when you said you didn't like them and you hadn't even listened to them (or so it seems). But regardless of everything, I have many problems when you call them talentless.

But the whole 3 chords thing is just made up to try and make his point look better, when the fact is that every single one of those bands used more than 3 chords. It was just an assinine statement that is incorrect. If he would have said that he doesn't enjoy the genre, and not called them talentless, then this thread would have gone in a completely different direction.
If I say that Europe does not exist, does that all of a sudden become an opinion? No it's a stupid statement and it needs to be corrected.
