When I first watched it I thought "WTF!?"
The beginning alien thingie looks like a young boy, I swear that was part of a documentary in the early 90's 80's. Well if it isn't.. it reminds me of something I've seen real before. Who knows, I'm always in a daze.
The young boy changes after the intro to an adult in a wheel chair (who looks like the young child) and then a chihuawa (however you spell it)

It's freaky shit and a well done movie, it's just the intro which is dodgy.
