Anyone else dig those Chinese kung fu movies...aka Wire Fu; where the actors are attached to wires as they perform their acrobatics?
I've recently gotten back into those and they are a real break for me...I watched "The Kung Fu Cult Master" the other day and had a good laugh as well as an appreciation for those cute Chinese actresses :)
any favorites?

good call....i almost sarted a similar thread after a trip to the video store.
i really like all the OLD jackie chan movies...the best was "drunken master" by far.....and maybe fearless hyena (sp?) as a distant 2nd
bruce lee had "fists of fury" which gave me goose bumps as a kid...
i'm not to fond of the new movies with jet li and such.....however, "crouching tiger hidden dragon" was aN awesome movie...

Man, when I was young I use to watch Sunday morning kung fu mania with my Dad and older brothers. I love those old school movies, where they can fly super high and do crazy shit. I'm rambling now..................I'll stop.

Bruce Lee doesn't really go into this campy genre to me...he has his own genre...he is THE MAN!!!!
You should look into some of the imports, Chris...hard as heck to speed read the sub-titles and watch the action...but they are really good...Jet Li has a bunch...A BUNCH of slick movies.
I watched pirated versions...but "Hero" with Jet Li and Donnie Yen should be hitting American theatres this/next year...very good...very well done.
Also, hoping to get Legend of Zu stateside sometime soon...it's like a Wire Fu meets Mortal Kombat type of movie...tried watching the chinese version...but, no sub titles so I just looked at the pretty lights :)
yeah, I used to watch all these hipster movies on Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday afternoons, panda...there was also some theatre that would show an occasional Wire Fu movie...gosh...childhood was greatness
now, that's a ramble, panda :)

hmmmpppphhhh...but, panda neglected to congratulate me
;)
had me a kung fu marathon at mi casa today...and I noticed that the same actors usually play either the hero or the villian...and don't change roles all too often...I just like the sword play and the flying...it's mindless fun!....except for the subtitle reading...that becomes a burden

I watched a kung-fu movie with Bob Dole in it. It was AWESOME!
Ever seen it?:)

Found out today that my Co. has an IM system that they use w.n the comanpy. It's called Win popup or sumtin

usually, with those company internal IM engines; there is a function that will allow you to piggy back onto AIM or Yahoo or MSN...my company has one...but, I still bypass the firewall and get onto AIM....shhhhh :)
back onto subject...was dicking around with the pirated "Legend of Zu" DVD last night and got the English sub-titles working...woo hoo...good times!!!!...anyways...it's like a fantasy kung fu flick...very much like Mortal Kombat, but waaaaay better...also used a lot of Western companies for the effects...yet another in an increasing line of "East meets West" production....highly recommended

All time favorites: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Black Mask, Drunken Master, and you can't forget IRON MONKEY!!!!!!

getting back off topic....
my company has an internal messenger as well, but you need to beware that THEY RECORD YOUR MESSAGES! that is the opnly reason they block AIM....AIM charges a corp. $35 a head to monitor and record conversations, where as MSN charges significantly less. i've gotten around the firewalls, but IMO its not worth lossing my job.......damn i miss AIM

how could I forget the movies from your list minia...very, very good movies indeed....however, if you ever feel tempted to rent Black Mask 2...don't...it's a HORRIBLE flick...the worked wrestling into it!?!? aaarrrggghhhh...and some STUPID genetic experimentation/mutation storyline into it. Iron Monkey 2 is not a sequel to Iron Monkey, but it does star Donnie Yen (who is a total bad ass IMO) as Iron Monkey.
didn't think about the monitoring aspects, chris...yeah for workarounds! no job loss threats yet...will concede once they do tho

i saw "Brotherhood of the Wolf" last night and it had some cool ass fight scenes in it.....dunno if i would call it kung-fu though.
has anyone else seen the movie? i would like to know who the killer whore was working for...she was the one with the bad ass fan that slit the gypsies throat
Kanism

Brotherhood of the Wolf is majorly killer!!!! pisses me off to no extent that we in Region 1 encoding got cheated of all the great goodies that the rest of the world is getting for it on DVD tho.
she was helping out dude...I forget their names...blonde dude and Crow T.V. guy... I think they got one of the Chinese guys to choreograph the fight scenes...great action, great story, great cast...did I mention nekkidness? oh yes, my friends...boobies in this one too...FAN-tastic movie
hope I helped you out, chris :)

no no no...she was helping him out because she was working for someone who paid for her assistance in taking down the brotherhood.....at least that's what she alluded to

How could I forget Brotherhood of the Wolf!!!!! Yes, that is an awesome movie!! The chick was an emissary of the church, lots 'o' history in that flick. I don't know what the blonde guys name was, but the indian was Mark Ducascos who incidentally is in Cradle 2 the Grave. That movie is pretty awesome in its own right.

OMG.............that indian guy was fucking hotttttt!!! Holy shit is he fine, esp. in his half naked outfit. I was sad that he.............*don't want to ruin it for the rest of you*;)

I bet he dies in Cradle 2 the Grave too, eh? did he die in Crow? that's a stupid question...he had to die to become the crow...sorry panda...dude has been type casted as the go to guy to die

lmao, do i sense envy?
and why not? the guy was the only one who kicked major ass in the movie. notice that he is the only one who could get surounded by bad guys with knives, and kick ALL of their asses....plus he had some killer tattoos.

That whole Indian mystique he had goin' on was sexy as hell! And the way he layed out anyone and everyone, definetly a right eye recipient ( I'd give my right eye....). In the new movie he is actually a bad guy, so of course in the end it comes down to Jet Li v Mark Decascas. Pretty good, but they fight with a ring of fire around them that makes it feel contrived......oh well. best not to put too much thought into it!!

Rumble in the Bronx isn't one of jackie chans best movies but there is a scene where this guy is mooning him and jackie is standing by a car. So he pulls the antenna off the car and wacks that dude in the ass with it! That shit made me laugh!

just got my hands on the "import" version of "Storm Riders"...haven't watched it yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about it....wooooo...
oh, favorite Jackie Chan movie has got to be Drunken Master...
useless trivia...in Enter the Dragon; Jackie Chan played one of the thugs that got his neck broken by the master himself, my idol and yours...Bruce Lee

Well the biggest difference is that it actually has a story line! Some are just kind of pathetic in the plot arena. I did like the Rush hour movies, though.
