List your favorite boxers and what you like about them particularly. I noticed this sports section had nothing about boxing, thought I'd give it a boost.
Mike Tyson - didn't let anyone step all over him, always spoke his mind, never lied to keep up a good image. One of the most devastating punchers of all time
Roy Jones Jr. - his speed, his foot movement, the way he tormented his opponents.
Felix Trinidad - the man had as much charisma as Ali but not as cocky, very good puncher
Arturo Gatti - had the most heart, was always willing to brawl, gave the fans fights they'd never forget

Sugar Ray Robinson- Amazing record, and i believe was the hardest hitting middleweight, and was closest to learning the sweet science of boxing. He could slug, brawl it out, and box. Kick ass left hook too.
Jake Lamotta-I never seen such an aggresive boxer in my life. He puts so much pressure on you in the ring its unbelievable. He also is the first to win against Sugar Ray Robinson. He could take a shitload of punishment, and even allowed his brother to punch him in the face for no apparent reason, and it didn't seem to bother him.
Carmen Basilio- Could take a shitload of punishment that its unbelievable. He also is a great brawler, and also won against Sugar Ray Robinson once. In fact, he could take so much punishment, you'd think he wasn't even human.
Rocky Marciano- He had a lot of heart, and great punching power. Great Slugger, and what can i say? He was undefeated.
Joe Frazier-His style is interesting, and he is a tough opponent.
Joe Louis- He is from my area, Detroit, and he had quick, powerful, accurate punches. He fought wars in the ring.
Tommy Hearns- Fought wars in the ring, and had a great right hand.
These fighters are in no apparent order.

Mike Tyson, I don't give a shit what anyone says, he's is the baddest man that ever walked the face of this earth, he doesn't take shit from anyone and I love him for that.
Jesse James Leija, he's a hometown guy so I have to give him love, was world champ way back when but now he's retired.

Are you kidding? Did you not see Tyson quit like a little bitch in his last fight? Tyson has always been a bitch........I remember this fag ducking GEORGE FOREMAN in the early 90's and telling Don King he wanted no part of Foreman LOL. Yeah Tyson is the "baddest man that ever walked the face of this earth" when he ain't scared of you. Ken Shamrock would break Tyson's neck in a couple of minutes.
As for my favorite boxers. Their my favorite because they have alot of heart and NEVER quitted and they always gave it their all in fights.
Muhammad Ali
Julio Cesar Chavez
Johnny Tapia

he said it in the post-fight interview man, he just doesn't have the heart for boxing anymore he was doing it just to get the bills paid. He figured "fuck, I got my money already and not like anyone else is gonna buy my next PPV, I'll just quit now" plus with the 2 points deduction didn't look like that motivated him much
Johnny Ruiz is my favorite boxer, mostly because its my friend's Uncle.
sorry man, but John Ruiz is the most boring fighter to ever watch, all he does is clinch.

I would argue with you, but just the fact that you think Ken Shamrock could beat Tyson in a fight proves you are an idiot, goodnight sir.

Not only could Ken Shamrock destroy that fag Tyson but so could stiffs like Kevin McBride LOL. Yeah keep believing Tyson is the "baddest man in the planet" you're as just as big of an idiot as your gutless idol Tyson.

tyson is a shot 39 year old, it's only normal it happens to every single athlete. Shamrock didn't look so good against Ortiz and he was 38 at the time, so what's your excuse for him? just so you remember on the street Tyson can still fuck you up with a single punch, so I wouldn't be talking bad about him over the internet. If you really think he sucks you obviously haven't watched him from '85-90 where he was the most talented fighter.
And Tyson being "gutless?" are you fuckin kidding me? did you not see all of his interviews where he insults the media and threatens future fighters/reporters? Or how he took a bite out of Holyfield's ear, attacked Lewis at a press conference, tried breaking frenchman's arm, knocking Mitch Green out on the street, beat the fuck out of grown men at the age of 13? Sorry but Tyson has the most guts I've ever seen in an athlete

Oh yeah it takes alot of guts to insult pussy reporters. I'm so impressed by the balls he showed. Don't confuse stupidity with guts. Your definition of having guts is clearly flawed being you believe Tyson had any. Also who did Tyson beat that was so great? Ugh........Nobody. Any descent fighters exposed the coward that is "Iron Mike".
Tyson WAS a talented fighter but he never had any courage any one who stood up to him found that out very quickly.
As for Shamrock he got beat by a better man, but atleast he didn't quit like a little bitch and then say "I don't have the heart to fight anymore".

I just hate it when people use the "who did Tyson fight in his prime" card, he was only the champ in his prime for TWO YEARS until he went to jail. Spinks, Holmes, Bruno, Tucker, Tubbs, Berbick were all great opponents in his era, and guess what he fucking ruined them all in a matter of 2 years. You're just a fuckin hater, everybody knows Tyson is just fighting for money he was even winning the Kevin Mcbride fight the scorecards were 57-55 |57-55 | 55-57 and this was after the headbutt. It takes "guts" to admit to the public you don't want to box anymore and just did it for the money rather than lie to them about how you injured your wrist or some shit like that that you see many other boxers do. Atleast Tyson was winning in that fight and had a chance, I look at the Shamrock fight and I see Shamrock getting fucking schooled the whole night

Those were great fighters LOL. The only good fighter was Larry Holmes who's claim to fame was beating a Muhammad Ali who had a hole in the membrane of his brain.
How about the legend known as James 'Buster' Douglas was he a great fighter? LOL

they were great fighters of the time of the 80s era, once tyson ruined them their careers were over, just look at what happened to Spinks. Tucker was also 35-0 when he fought Tyson

and he still beat whatever they threw at him, please you just showed now how the "he didn't fight anyone" card is bullshit because he took on everything they had to offer even if it wasn't the greatest. I honestly don't understand how somebody can hate a boxer, I respect all of them for their talents. Sure I have particular fighters I don't like watching like Ruiz and Hopkins but I still got to admire these guys for what they accomplished seeing as how I'm the one watching them on the television. Tyson has provided the sport so much and gave it a huge boost in popularity in the 80s, he deserves a lot of respect for that.

I do not hate Tyson.
Mike Tyson is going to go down as one of the most gifted boxers in history. It's too bad though he was too mentally weak to do anything great with that talent. I would respect Tyson more if he actually won fights against really good competion or even didn't duck guys like George Foreman before he went to prison.

Mike Tyson is my favorite fighter of all time. In his prime he was fearless and couragous and cleaned up the heavyweight division. Even non boxing fans know who tyson is which is good for boxing.
Here are fighters who can carry boxing until we get the next Tyson:
Jeff Lacy, Jermain Taylor, Zab Judah and Floyd Mayweather to name a few.
