AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php) Should get rid of it no problem.

use trend micros online virus scan, but make sure you do the complete scan, so it will scan for virus's and spyware at the same time, it might take a while, but its soo worth it, tell us how much you find. :)

I forgot to shut off my virus scanner should I restart the scan?

Edit* I found nothing on my C drive. Although I know there is a virus there. Shit when I hit alt - Tab it shows a program called rux running lol.

No just let it finish. I'm curious though, what antivirus do you currently have?

there is no way it didn't find anything. I think you used microsoft's malicious piece of shit that doesnt do anything.

This is the one that you want

Sometimes running virus scans and spyware scans it is always good advice to disable your system restore and run the scans in safemode

Good luck

Heh. That is the virus scanner that I used. It picked up nothing. I'll try again. Ive tried nortan too and that doesn't work very well either. I've tried hitting ctrl alt delete but it doesn't show up as anything unless is it is under another name. They only place that shows that it is running is when I hit alt tab. I probobly have some unknown version of the rux virus on my computer.

did you do the spyware scan? or the virus scan? because rux is a trojan...

If none of this works try doing a virus scan offline in safe mode if you have a bad virus scanner then do a spyware check in safe mode safe mode only opens up the needed programfiles to run your computer nothing else and once it is found you can remove it.... if you do that and it still doesnot remove it disable your system restore and then do it again i am absolutly sure that will fix your problem let me know it does not work

Hey everyone still no luck lol. A/k I used the virus scanner you had sent me and it didn't pick up anything. So the next step will be to restart in safe mode i'll tell you if that works lol.

absolutly worse senerio (short of gettin a new HDD) is to system restore from b4 u started gettin the problem...but again, this is the absolutly last step (and technically, this doesnt get rid of the problem, just keeps the trojan tucked away...)

Find yourself a tech support forum and ask there.

Go to Start -> Run then type in "msconfig" without the quotes. Click the startup tab, and uncheck everything you don't need. Reboot into safe mode, and run your scans from there.

Install a free firewall (zone alarm, sygate) and make a note of any programs trying to broadcast to the internet that shouldn't be. Remove those programs. If you're using Internet explorer, clear you're cache, smack yourself about 15 times, then switch to firefox (http://www.mozilla.org). Then go back into IE, and disable activeX (http://www.computerbytesman.com/acctroj/howto.htm).

After all this, I would go to start -> search -> for files or folders, then click all files and folders. Then click the text that says what size is it? then click specify size in kb, leave the box to at least and put in the value 204800. This will search out files over 200 megabytes. If any of them look really suspicious, you should scan them indvidually, or check them with a hex editor to see if they are filled with filler data.

also post a hijackthis (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html) log to make our job easier.
