Actually that's the main problem I have with living in San Antonio. We have more than a million people living in just the city (w/o suburbs) and we don't have a serious theatre venue (except majestic theatre, which is shit). We never get any good smaller bands.

The most recent concert i went to was Gigantour on August 20th. It was the the best concert experience i had of my life. 9 bands playing that night, all for only 35 dollars, plus a 27 dollars I spent well on Megadeth's Greatest Hits album and in turn was first in line to meet the guys and get autographs. Dave Mustaine was wiped that night, they just got back from playing in Portland, ME and after my concert the next night they were playing in Philadelphia, i could understand his weariness. But aside from that both them and Dream Theater put on stellar performances, it was absolutely incredible. One of my friend's dad's freind said he was driving around in the city about a mile away from the arena, and he said he could hear Dream Theater playing all the way from there.
Before that, this past June, i saw Judas Priest, which blew my mind. Loud, heavy, and Halford was screaming like a bitch on fire, it was kickass.
And last November i saw Velvet Revolver, which is tied for my favourite concert with Gigantour. VR was loud as hell, and each one of them put on a great performance.
My first concert, however, were the Doobie Brothers, which was a great experience, they played amazingly.

Steve Vai.....in Dublin, October.
It's gonna take like 2 hours to get there though. This town doesn't have any venues or anything, bastards. Everything goes to Dublin and Slaine (if that's in Dublin?)
My sister was going to the eminem concert in Slaine, but that was before he cancelled all of his european tour.

VR where in Ireland in January, I think. I missed them though.
I live on Long Island. About 45 minute train ride gets me to Manhatten, basically the concert capital of the world. Plus there's like 5 really good venues on the island that have good bands play occasionally. Here's an example of how much LI kicks ass.
October 1st--Porcupine Tree in Manhatten
October 2nd--Testament in Farmingdale (10 minutes from me)
October 3rd--OAR in Manhatten.
3 good bands from different genres on 3 consecutive days. I wanna go to all 3 but I don't think I'm gonna have the $$. DEFINATELY seeing Testament.

We've had Kalan Porter, Billy Talent, but most importantly, The Doors.
Keep in mind there is only 56,000 people in my city.
But really, who gives a fuck about billy talent and kalan porter?
