I have no idea what my favorite solo is but I'll list some I like (mostly any I can think of off the top of my head):

I Want it All-Queen
Thunderstruck-AC/DC
Eruption-Van Halen
Freebird-Lynard Skynyrd
Stairway to Heaven-Led Zeppelin

that's all I can think of off the top of my head

do you play a guitar? i doubt it. if you've ever heard of tapping you would know that it is a technique he invented that makes your guitar sound twice as fast as you're really playing. you use a finger from your picking hand to tap on a fret, then pull off and hammer on another fret. it makes three notes and you only have to fret one. it's actually pretty insulting to call bullshit, especially because most people can play it recognizably after about a year of playing. if you really want a recording, i'll send you one... as soon as i get around to it. PM me if you want it, to remind me.

btw... ofcourse the recording won't be perfect, i always fuck up when i record, but you'll get the idea. i can definitaly pull it off decently.

don't know why i keep adding to this post... anyway i like to learn any solo i can get my hands on. if you know of any other challenging ones pm me and i'll give it a shot, i'll send you a recording of me trying it too.

Yeah i'll have to agree, I've been playing guitar for a couple years and I can tap and Eruption doesn't sound so amazingly difficult.

Probably my favorite solo in a few songs would be...

Seasons in the Abyss, Angel of Death - Slayer
FTLOG, Bad Horsie, Tender Surrender - Steve Vai

Thats all I can think of.

/Tilt/, i doubt you even care but here's a clip of me playing eruption... with cold fingers, so shut ur mouth about a few errors. btw eddie's version also sounded better because of the equipment he used and the effects, such as reverb and delay that repeat notes that he plays. mine obviously isn't as good, but i'm a 16 year old in high school and i don't have 20 hours a day to devote to guitar. maybe when i'm his age i'll be able to show him up, who knows

edit: genious that I am, forgot the clip: http://media.putfile.com/Eruption25

Well, theres this one solo in Pink Floyd's 1977 release Animals, where Dave Gilmore makes me wanna cry half the time I hear it. He's sooo, so clean with everything he ever did; i.e.: Have a Cigar, Breathe, On the Turning Away(as earlier stated). I mean, everyone that has posted has the right idea and I can see that most of you know music, but if you arent feeling what Im saying so far, listen to two songs. Dogs is the first and Have a Cigar being the second. It makes the hairs on my neck stand everytime I hear either solo.

Dave Gilmore, buddy!

I didn't mean it as an insult and I apologize that you took it like that. I don't play much guitar, but I have many friends that do and I am aware that Eruption is very hard.

Anyway, good job. I could tell that it was Eruption, my favorite part I might add. Oh and get a job.

On the Turning Away is proof that age doesn't mean shit. The first album released after Waters leaves, and it's one of my favorites. A lot of people say that it's not really Pink Floyd if Roger's not with them, but the music did not lose a thing. Some of my favorite Floyd songs come from Momentary Lapse of Reason and Division Bell.

When I saw them in '94 at Earl's Court, I was absolutely blown away, not only by the light show and everything, but by the quality of the music. In some cases, the songs they played were better than the studio versions. And Guy Pratt...holy shit, the man is amazing. More than acceptable substitute for Waters, and better as a bass player, in my opinion.

Point of post: You know what the fuck's up.
