That Monte is especially Redneck! ^^^ It looks nice, but they all come with free mullets and a gift card to wal-mart.

And that second 'Monte' listed is actually a Lumina.

Not a bad idea, look into the SVT, or the new coming Fiesta.

I'd go with a Honda Civic Hybrid or a VW TDI. If its a DD, then mpg is where it matters.

Edit: Actually, scratch that. Go with the TDI instead.

Added to the list, minus the SVT.

I have a 2001 V6 with 177,000+ VERY HARD miles on it. I've driven it across country more times then I can count, many of those time pulling a fully loaded 16ft trailer behind me. I've smacked it with my tractor a couple of times and generally abused the shit out of it.

My truck is the definition of ugly on wheels, most people can't believe I destroyed a truck of such a relatively young age. But ugly is only skin deep, mechanically it still runs like a top. The only problems I've had with it are the tranny...I've been through 3 of them but that may be because it wasn't made to pull 10,000lbs across the country over and over again.
Just a quick update on how rugged these trucks are:

Saturday morning I drove it 1000 miles from Mississippi to Pennsylvania, then turned right around on Sunday and drove it back. 2000 miles in 36 hours on a high mileage truck that has had little to no maintenance and has spent the past few years doing nothing but beating around in my field.

At one point during the drive I thought I'd lost the bottom end due to a heavy knocking coming from the engine area, but it turned out to be a busted exhaust hanger.

She cruised at 70-75, never sputtering, stumbling, or coughing and got 19MPG.

I'm begining to think it's impossible to destroy a Toyota pick up, God knows I've given it a sporting try.
