Can someone help me with my cellphone?

This is a pretty easy question that a lot of people should know.

I dropped my cellphone into water and now it is partially working but I want to get a new cellphone. I looked on ebay and saw some cellphones I was interested in purchasing. Most of them were slightly used but in good condition.

So my question was if I bought a cellphone off of ebay would I be able to transfer my number and account information to that cellphone? Keep in mind I have t-mobile. Also what does it mean when I cellphone is unlocked.

Im to scared to go into a t-mobile store because theyll try to scam me into buying a $200 cellphone.

SIM cards. There should be a SIM card in your cell. It stores your information, number, phonebook and such I believe. You pop it out and put it in the new one. When a phone is unlocked, it basically means it will work with any carrier I believe.

spoon and fork is on a distinguished road
You should first go back to the store where you bought it, they usually just give you a new one for free, even if you broke it yourself.

Getting a phone unlocked means you can use any network on it as was said before, for example T-mobile, vodafone etc. If you got a new SIM card for your phone, for example an vodafone one and your phone was only T-mobile compatible it wouldn't work until you got it unlocked. After you have it unlocked you could put the 'voda' SIM card in and use it. Also if you called Vodafones services up (Dial '2345' in England) and ask them, you could have your old number transferred so you could keep your old number!
