the montreal expos were around for a while, the expo franchise moved from montreal to washignton and are now known as the nationals but the nationals are the same team as the expos are.

Nothing against Montreal, but that is not a baseball town. They average 5,000 visitors per game. That is pathetic. I'm glad they are in D.C. They will get the support they didn't get in Montreal.

I'm a Mets fan, but I'd love to see another major league baseball team in Brooklyn.

I would also like to see one team from Mexico, Cuba, Puero Rico and the Dominican Republic represented. I don't think they could compete financially, but it would be interesting. Puerto Rico and Mexico would have the best chance.

The Nationals have already made a really boneheaded move:

They gave a lot of money to Christian Guzman, and hes just not a big time player.

Actually up until 1994 Montreal did fairly well with attendence and made the playoffs once. In 1994 they had the best record in baseball and were favored to win the World Series. Most predicted that the Expos would defeat the NY Yankees in the Series as the Yankees were also having their first great year in over a decade. Unfortunately the player's strike went into effect that year and the playoffs and World Series was cancelled. Montreal baseball never recovered.

It doesnt hurt to have a speedy lead off hitter. I think he is a decent player. Not sure on how much they gave him but he is worth 5 million a year.

I think it is great for the Expos organization they go to a new city, new fans, new everything... this give them a chance to rebuild into a good team in a great city too. They will do just fine out in D.C i can feel it.
