As a Kentucky fan, the greatest sports moment of all time IMO is 1998, Scott Padgett's three pointer to put UK on top of Duke.

"The Play", 1982 - Greatest college football play ever. The Band was on the field, for those that weren't aware

"The Catch", 1981 - Montana to Dwight Clark in the back of the endzone wins it for the 49ers, who go on to build a dynasty that lasts over a decade.

"The Shot Heard Round the World", 1951 - Bobby Thomson culminates one of the great comebacks in baseball history (albeit one aided by cheating) with a home run off Ralph Branca. Also known as "The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!, etc"

Definitely not for me. The only things worse than the shot for Cleveland sports teams were The Drive and the grounder that went by Tony Fernandez during Game 7 of the 1997 World Series.

Laettner to put Duke over Kentucky in the NCAA final with time running out as the shot drains.
Only because I hate UK.

But seriously I would have to agree with the USA hockey team and the victory over the USSR in the Olympics.

The famous catch by Lynn Swan in Super Bowl XI (?) from Terry Bradshaw where he tips the ball then stumbles over a guy and makes the catch. That was amazing. That is one of the most vivid moments in my mind.

England travel to Germany (the Olympic stadium) where Germany have NEVER lost a World Cup qualifier in their long history, minutes into the game Germany go 1-0 up and it already looks like another dissappointment for England (Who along with Spain and Holland are the most unlucky underachieving teams in world football) but a rampant English side absolutley destroy the krauts 1-5 and gain World cup qualification.
Michael Owen scores a hatrick, the best midfielder in the world Steven Gerrard scores and also Emile Heskey finds the back of the net which was extra special for me as I am a huge Liverpool fan and all 5 goals were scored by Liverpool players........ Back of the net!!!

PS the Nazis qualified for the World cup anyway by winning in the playoffs.
