why do people like baseball?

im not trying to start anything, but i just dont get why people like baseball. watching baseball is pretty slow paced since you arent moving all the time. i also get bored playing baseball also. the ball just never comes to me. for the baseball fans, why do you like to watch baseball? what makes baseball so great to you?

its an awesome game and you need to be quite athletic to play it well, its a game where you need to think more so then in other sports, its not just hit the ball and run, while someone catches and throws, if it was that simple it would be boring. Another thing that makes it exciting is pitching, how the pitchers could absolutly baffle and fool the batters is amzing to me at least. There are more reasons but ive never really thought about why i liked baseball, it just came nattrual, that is why my answer may be incomplete.

Some people say baseball is just hit and run around the bases, well, any game can be simplified to look dumb. People who don't like baseball because it is just "hitting and running around" are being arrogant. If baseball is just that, then football should be throwing a ball and getting tackled, basketball is just throwing a ball in a hoop, hockey is just putting a puck in a net. There is a lot more to baseball than hitting and running around the bases.

Baseball is a game of strategy and cannot be played by anyone just becauss they are really tall or really big. Hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things in sports. No clock means a game can be more dramatic. A walk off homer or hit can end a game abrubtly. I agree that baseball is a generally slow sport, but it is the one with the best chance of a dramatic finish.

I like baseball because its full of strategy and long time rivalries. Although it may seem like there is nothing going on, there is. And of course, the number one reason I like baseball.... The Boston Red Sox World Champions 04!

Baseball is a finesse game, like many other stated it’s about strategy, calculation and skill. I love it. I can’t get enough of it. Not everyone can get off on it and that’s ok. Also Baseball has a unique heritage; I like its history too.

i'm reminded of why i love baseball every playoff, when my stomach turns to knots during the dramatic moments, such as Boston coming back to beat NY after being down 3 games to 0, and then during the offseason, when all i can think about is how much i want the next season to begin.

yes, baseball is boring, but only if you don't realize all that's taking place. being a pitcher and a catcher, after every game i've ever played, i've always felt more mentally drained than physically drained.

Nothing like stroking a Home Run. or Laying out for a line drive. I must admit I miss most of them but I like to try.

I like baseball because it is part of America. Even in the basketball state that is Kentucky baseball was the first game I played.

I dont like baseball to much i watched the world sieres and the nlcs cause theres no hockey well no other sport really going on other then canadian football at the time,i dunno i dont mind playing it but i cant watch it its not as exciting like soccer or hockey, when you u see the ball or the puck in the back of the net(eccspecialy for hockey for the flames) i go nuts. But people like what they like its like hockey in the u.s. nobody really cares about, look at Toronto and Montreal, Montreal is gone because theres barely any fans there and the fan base in Toronto isnt big at all. I think it all had to do with the lockout inwhat was it 94 that killed the fan base. Dont be suprised if american hockey clubs fold after this lockout if there is no season all due to fan base. They try and threaten players that teams like Calgary and Edmonton are in trouble i doubt that because its a canadian game people live by hockey here. anyways this a baseball thread enough about hockey.

baseball is a statistics game. If you are a stat nut like me, you enjoy it when your team pounds out 15 hits to raise their team batting avg to a league high 291. Stupid shit like that.
