This is starting to piss me off.

In now way would I try an argue his actions were condoned, while are those that will, but from crying out loud, what happens on the ice needs to dealt with on the ice.

Crap like this has no place in the courts. Players know the risks they take their chances.

I actually have never heard of the story until just now when I read the article. I agree with you Chewy, this needs to be dealt with by the NHL, not the court system. Fights happen all the time in hockey. The players know that they could be injured but they do it anyway.

I also agree Chewy. The sport is designed for physical contact. A good portion of hockey are fights, it shouldn't be resolved inside a courtroom.

Give the people what they want!

Chewy you are so right, there is no way he should be charged but the suspension was the right thing to do

I agree that a suspension should have been set into play but not the one handed to him. An indefinite suspension was a weak thing to do. Set a date or number of games, or kick him out all together but Bert has had a raw deal on this all along.

What he was wrong, no question, but anyone that has played the knows this kinda stuff happens every so often, just very seldom with the same consequences. What happened to Moore was a fluke, there was no-way of predicting that kin of injury. 80 maybe even 90 players in the NHL may have done the same thing in any given season with no serious injury. Watch the OHL, or the WHL you can double those numbers. I say fine him suspend him but get it over with,.

Nah I think he deserved what he's getting... his intentions were clear, he stalked Moore then sucker-punched him from behind....

Bertuzzi's punch in the hockey rink left the 25-year-old Moore with facial cuts, fractured vertebrae, a concussion, and doubts about whether he would recover enough to ever play hockey again.

Did you see the game, Moore and Bert where digging at each other in the boards just prior to Bert smoking him in the mind. Moore knew something was going to happen that…. Everyone on both benches knew it. Hell my brother was sitting in the seats above center ice and he knew it. Colorado was stupid for toss him out like that in that game, knowing there was a “price” on his head in a throw away game the Av’s were winning in a blow out in Vancouver. Sending Moore on the ice was just baiting someone to take a swing at him, Moore was getting cheap and with Bertuzzi clearly trying to draw a penalty. On this one everyone holds some blame, most on Bert, but there are others too.

right on the money... first time I got tag teamed and laid out, I begged the ref to call something, the player that took me out with a elbow skated up to me and "if you can't play the game then don't." Best advice I ever got. After the puck dropped I gave him some advice too, I got a game misconduct for it but after that people did railroad me again.

What did he do exactly? Did he drop a chair on the dudes head while he was in the stands?

As far as I remember fights have always been in hockey so why would he get into all this trouble?

No I didn't read the whole story but awww well fuck it I'll go read it and then edit this post :shuffle:

EDIT: Oh I read it now. WTF is that bullshit? It was a hockey fight dude. So what someone got injured!!11

I see what you mean... I didn't watch the full game, only the highlights and the discussion of it on TSN i believe it was...I don't agree with the way he handled himself... if the punch had of been face-to-face then I think it'd be a completely different story. Punching someone from behind then smashing their face into the ice is not normal hockey fighting. I'm sure he's angry, and they had scuffles beforehand, but he didn't handle the situation very well.

If someone can find the video that'd be great, its pretty brutal seeing Moore's neck getting smashed into the face.

what would be cool is the video that starts from the scuffle in the boards. The one played over and over again just shows Bert coming up behind Moore, with him looking like a neighbors dog taking a shit on your lawn. There is also some suggestion that damage done to Moore’s neck could have been caused by the dog pile not just the punch. I should ask cottonzway he gets hits mitts on all kinds of hockey vids.
