Recording Prank Calls Using VOIP, Internet phone ? ? ?
Hi, I have got an Internet phone account (VOIP) on my pc, I use a pc mike to talk and the pc speakers to listen. They give you some dialer software to dial the calls.
I got this so I can make soundboard prank calls. I'm having a mare trying to get to work properly though. I have it set up like this, two small pc speakers on the floor with the pc mike right in front of them. When I attempt a prank call I run audacity recording software so that it is recording from the mike and have an arnie soundboard open on my desktop. I then dial the number. When they answer I hit "hi" "how are you" but they never seem to respond, sometimes they say there is a terrible echo and they say call back. The problem is obviously the set up. The pc mike is acting as the phone mic, and the speakers are the receiver. However I also obviously need to use the pc speakers to make arnie talk. So, the person is talking to themselves and stuff and its all fu*cked up. It seems to record fine though, which is weird, but the actual pranks are not working because of the setup. Does anybody use VOIP internet phone to make prank calls? Or has anybody got any suggestions on how best to make and record some prank calls using VOIP? Peace. |

perhaps the pc is outputting the sound as you record it - thus creating feedback?

Yeah, the set up is just really messed up. I've found a way around the problem now but its not perfect. When the person who I am calling speaks I have to slide the mic volume down to zero so they cant hear themselves talking, then I slide it back up so I can reply. I'm using freecorder to recorded the calls now, it's set to record whatever plays on the desktop, basically everything I hear through the speakers. The quality is quite impressive,
I had my first successful call earlier. I phoned a pizza takeaway and the bloke was talking for a about 3 mins. He was saying astalvista baby and stuff, but for no apparent reason the recording software fu.cked up on my only good call. It said it generated errors and just shut down so I lost the mp3 file. I was well pissed off. I'll be trying again tomorrow though. Yakshimash. |

there is probably a checkbox or something you need to clcik that stop the computer playing the mic input back thru the speakers.
look forward to hearing your calls

Hi, I would like to purchase a 2 yr contract for Verizon National Broadband access for my laptop using their USB wireless modem/card and would like to be able to make mobile phone calls using their VoIP service, Voice Wing by Verizon Wireless. Is there anything especially in terms of the consent of Verizon that would prevent my doing this? Can I use my laptop with Verizon Wireless USB modem + Voice Wing VoIP service without owning a landline?
