The prank call contest thread!!

It's nice that more people having been posting pranks recently (and some rather good ones too). Therefore to encourage even more posts i figured we should have a prank call contest just as a bit of fun and to encourage responsible but innovative pranking.

(i did ask an admin if he would organise one, but he didn't get back to me so i guess that's a no)

After all the pranks are in (if we get any

) I'll open up a poll and then everyone can vote for which calls were the best. As a prize - maybe everyone can PROMISE to give rep points the winner(s) EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE WINNING CALL! maybe even the admins here could donate some rep points please?? Ideally the winning prank could go onto the main site, although i doubt that would happen.

CONTEST RULES

1. The call should be new - not something that has been posted already (I do realise thes kinda penalises those who have posted pranks recently so apologies to those people).

2. The pranks should be legal and responsible. This means no death threats, no calls to the emergency services or worthwhile charities (there are plenty of crap ones). No harassment of innocent citizens, no bomb scares or terrorist related bullshit. Bascially don't do anything that can get you into trouble - this is a contest for legal calls and so no one accepts any resposnsibilty for anything you do in your calls whatsoever.

3. Calls can be incoming or outgoing, soundboard or voice or whatever. NO BITCHING ABOUT soundboard v voice calls. They can both be equally funny or shit depending on the pranskster/victim

4. You can enter as many times as you like - though anyone posting large quantities or total crap can get lost.

5. Try to get your call hosted somewhere permantently so it can be judged by everyone. If it's not up somewhere and available for download on the closing date then you won't get any votes. Ideally it sould be an mp3 at around 32 - 128 kbps - all enormous downloads at stupid bit rates or in gay formats will basically be disqualified.

6. The closing date is March 15th.

7. If people don't agree with any of the point here I'll happily change them if there is a consensus. I've probably msised some imporatant stuff and would appreciate any suggestions. In fact I'd be happy if someone else would organise this as I'd like to enter the contest and wouldn't want to be seen as having influence over who wins in any way.

Hi thanks for entering. Are those both brand new calls that haven't been posted before?

Remember this contest is FOR NEW CALLS ONLY. Also you are asking questions about issues i have covered in the rules already. Please read the rules again (or for the 1st time - which ever is the case).

The reason I wrote the rules was so people wouldn't keep having to ask annoying questions. Feel free to ask any questions not covered in the rules.

my 2 cents. for ebaums world to support this, they are advocating illegal activity (harassment) i would suggest that ebaums world do not support this and state that it is a user held and organized activity and that they are not acountable for what goes on and the reprocussions of actions of those participating in the contest.

Ok looks like this is now a sticky!

TBH I think the rules I posted a perfectly clear on the legal side of things. Using the telephone is not illegal anyway, so as long as everyone stay within the law I can't see anything wrong in having a contest.

I'm glad so many people plan to enter - do remember you can submit as many calls as you want!

Plenty of people have done good calls and posted them over the years. this contest is to encourage new calls or new callers, it's not for recycling old ones.

DAMN IT!!!

We have two phone lines in my house, one upstairs (my mom's), and one downstairs (my phone line). I can prank call people downstairs (on my line), when my mom is upstairs, without her hearing any of it, because I use the TeleTool 2000 to record pranks. The TT2 enables you to do the prank, without being heard. So, last night, I'm getting ready to do a prank to a SUPER GOOD place I thought of, when all of the sudden, I remember that I can't call long distance on my line, only on the upstairs line

. So, that means, the only time I can call the destination I want to call is on the upstairs line, when my mom goes somewhere

. That's not going to happen anytime soon... our car, and truck are burried in 3 feet of SOLID snow, and ice (I live in Alaska, so what can I say?). I'm going to have to "unburry" my car and truck! The last time I did that, it took over 4 hours, and I almost died! Damn it, I want to contribute to this contest SO-OO-OO much, but I have to dig my cars out!!!
