That Mean Ass Karate Teacher...

That guy is an asshole! Is that in any way indicative of the way things are done "over there"? Man, oh man, if I was one of his students I would organize a revolt with my fellow students and ambush that prick in the parking lot. :shout:

Or they could find another Karate teacher?
I'm sure the reason people go to that school is exaclty because the teacher is a hard ass. It builds character. No one is forcing the students to go there so if they really don't like it I'm sure they can find another karate school down the block.

Are you kidding? He looked like he was bleeding? He was bleeding profusely it looked from his nose. I am sure after that video got turned in though that guy probably lost his job. Why would you do that though? The kids aren't learning anything from it. Practicing karate and teaching the kids students is one thing, but that was just wrong. It's like someone coming up to you and whipping you with a fuckin belt because they dont like the way you walk. Fuck that guy they should all gang up on him and beat his ass. If your instructor doesn't respect you you shouldn't respect him.

Maybe I should have said I was using the term 'karate' losely...
If it is indeed just some sort of self defense class and the people taking it know what they're getting into then big deal. It's their choice to be there. You don't know the whole story, I don't know the whole story but there are many people out there who would prefer a class where the instructor beat them senseless over something more traditional.

yes, the class looks like theyre supposed to be trained to self-defense, to defend yourself you need to know how to withstand pain and taking blows. It may seem harsh to most of us but im sure if you were one of the students youd understand that theyre probably doing it so they can withstand such things and be tough asses.

I can tell your American. Heaven forbid someone do that here in the States, they would be sued by thousands of people.

I assume its' part of their culture to learn things like that, they probably have been doing things like that for literally tens of thousands of years.

The US is what, 230 years old?

That's true, who knows? But it did seem kind of harsh. And for the guy above, how do you know that it's their choice to be there? Like you said you don't know the whole story, so what makes you say that?

Um....so the Japanese cultures predate Mesopotamia and other early civilizations by 4000 + years?

Interesting, I had no idea the Japanese were teaching Karate when the rest of the world was just learning how to grow crops and domesticate plants and animals. I'll have to tell my history teacher about that one.

When I used to go to karate, my teacher/trainer used to hit me with a stick while I trained, not in the face though. It prepares you to get hit and hits do not do as much damage.

(S)he never stated that Japanese civilzation predated Mesopotamian civilization (Which, might I add, doesn't exist anymore...), but the US is certainly an extremely young country compared to most European and Asian countries.

Thanks for that tip. I had no idea.

But it's pretty much the first major human civilization, which is dated as existing about 6000 years ago.

He or she said though, that what was being in shown in that video is part of their culture which has been done that way for "literally tens of thousands of years" which would mean that karate (the video doesn't look like self defense to me) would have been practiced since before any known human civilization which is proposterus.

Yes, the US is young, but it's not "tens of thousands" of years younger.
